Ladies - help me find a good bra!

Bravissimo are way expensive, try Brastop - so much more variety and much cheaper!
Also always make sure you are the size you think you are, worth getting measured in a few places just to see what they say and if they match up to each other. I used to bra fit for a well known lingerie company and we had so many people turn up wearing the total wrong size because they only got measured once and they were way off. For example if you're a size 14 and been measured any thing above a 36 band size, that's wrong, and don't forget new bras, wear on the loosest hook, as the bra gets older and looses elasticity you use the tighter the hooks! It does sound like you are being measured wrong. I was for years, getting it right made a huge difference. JL and Rigby & Pellar are def worth a trip.
In terms of good bras in bigger sizes, triumph are the best I've found so might be worth looking at.0 -
I wore a 34DD for most of my adult life until I got measured about 3 years ago in a branch of Boux Avenue. She told me I was a 32FF/G and I bought a bra in that size that was just an amazing fit.
I have to admit I was sceptical and thought it was probably just that their sizing was different to other places. But a year or so later I got measured in a branch of Bravissimo and they also said I was a 32FF/G so now that's the size I buy all the time. I think you don't really realise that your bra doesn't fit that well until you put on one that does!0 -
Reading through this thread, it's clear that what brand works for some doesn't work for others.
I'm a 36E/F and I find M&S bras generally comfortable but it really does depend on the style.
It's just not a case of being measured and then being able to buy the same size bra in all different brands.
I would recommend being measured in as many different places as you can get to.
Then try on a load of different makes & styles of bra.
Don't be brow-beaten to buy from the places that have measured you.
We have a fab lingerie shop in our town and, as someone else has posted, they seem to be able to look at you and pretty much know your size.
This website gives me a pretty accurate size:

This website however is a load of tosh (imho)

According to La Senza, I'm a 40C. :rotfl:
Herroom gives me the size that I mainly wear - and fits!
No wonder so many women are wearing the wrong bra size.0 -
I'm a 38GG and find curvy Kate fit best for me.
I'd recommend going in to one or two of the department stores to try on for fit, and then buy online.
You can quite often get decent bras for £10 - £20 cheaper than in store on bra stop, and lots of discount codes and cash back options for places like figleaves to be found online too.0 -
I got measured at John Lewis in the trafford centre and they got the right size but didn't have much for me to try in my size (30F - I had been wearing a 34c!).
So now I know my size I use Figleaves online as it has loads of choice in the larger cup sizes and so I order lots of styles in different sizes and just return what I don't want.0 -
Hi, I also am cursed with the larger bust at a 34G, I can usually find some nice ones in Asda of all places, you do have to try a few on as the sizes do vary in fit, but you can get some pretty ones at a good price.
Oh what i 'd give for people to talk to my face and not my chest....:rotfl:
Maybe buy one of these t-shirts?

If you want a really supportive one, then I would suggest the Wonderbra everyday D-G one. I did find it dug into my ribs for the first few days but once I got used to them they are so supportive and hold everything in place really well, whilst giving you a good shape. I got mine at an outlet shop for £16 each but they were on offer at Figleaves recently for about the same price. What goes around comes around.....I hope!0

Like some others on here, I highly recommend Rigby & Peller. With a properly engineered and fitted bra, it is a life-changing experience. It makes you look as if you've lost 10 lbs, gives you great definition and confidence.
I got treated by my Mum a few weeks ago and I got 2 bras: 1 Primadonna nude coloured bra and 1 Adidas sports bra (I cycle to work). Total bill was £120 but they will last me for YEARS - very MSE :j0 -
Second the idea of smaller band/bigger cup. Measure for band with tape measure held quite firmly and go with the exact figure-some fitters add 2" or similar and it ends up slipping/riding up or straps falling off your shoulders. Even worse if they then use the over the top number to work out cup size-it inevitably ends up too small. I had a hissy fit a couple of years ago and just decided to sort it out!
Go to a big department store or get a load from a catalogue and find the single one that fits-be systematic- try one brand at a time in the range of band sizes and cup sizes-might be 10 or more per brand. eg triumph. Think of it like trying to fit a puzzle piece into a 1000 piece puzzle-try and try and try again! You are not looking to buy a bra-you are looking to find the right make and fit.0
