Ladies - help me find a good bra!

Not for the faint hearted Im afraid but if you think you may be able to help please read on.

Im unfortunate enough to have a large chest:o

Im a 42DD and Im sick of my boobs looking like they are 2 footballs bouncing on my chest. I want to keep them up where they belong and not have them meeting my waist!

Ive tried and tried to find a GOOD pretty bra which actually does the job. I find with most of them that when I tighten the straps to lift my boobs higher my boobs start to fall out of the bottom of the bra:rotfl:

Too be honest it seems like ages since I last saw them where they are supposed to be, I don't want to look like Madonna with twin cones but I do want to be able to stand in a changing room and try a dress on and have it look decent.

ive been measured in M&S but still cant seem to keep the damn things in place.

Some people have mid-drift bulge, I have 2 lots! at the waist and another above it.

Anyone have the same problem and where can I get a good bra.

  • Bravissimo?
You can buy loads and return the ones which don't fit, or get to one of their stores?

Edit: I'm a 36F ish and have had lots of success with the Bravissimo brands but none at all in M&S- during one memorable trip I tried on seven styles, all the same size as the (M&S) bra I was wearing, and not one fitted!
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • Have you tried Bravissimo?

I find M&S pretty useless for bigger sized bras but have used Bravissimo, Debenhams, and John Lewis as they stock ranges such as Curvy Kate, Fantasie etc which are designed for the more well endowed amongst us.

You should maybe try getting measured somewhere else. DD cup is actually not *that* big really, especially proportionately to a 42 back. My uninformed guess, from your description, is that you need a bigger cup, by one or more sizes.

Ironically I find bravissimo awful. If it was just me then I would say i just have wired boobs.I gave them a chance and went back and dispite being told it was because the bra did not fit me properly that is why it dug in the same happened again. I took photos of my red and sore breast a
Went back to my not so pretty sports bra.

My family say there are certain branches of m and s that are good but again can be hit and miss.

I have been recommended a local independent place. Not sure where you are to see what you think.

Rigby & Peller (see http://www.timeout.com/london/shopping/rigby-peller) in London are absolutely great - I have a friend who is, to put it kindly, very large - 46GG - and she was absolutely fed up with the back-ache and looking like a "sack of potatoes" as she put it. Her OH decided that she needed a treat and got an appointment for bra fitting. She loved it! She was fitted with many different bras - all different sizes funnily enough - and now looks amazing.

Hi, I also am cursed with the larger bust at a 34G, I can usually find some nice ones in Asda of all places, you do have to try a few on as the sizes do vary in fit, but you can get some pretty ones at a good price.
Oh what i 'd give for people to talk to my face and not my chest....:rotfl:

Another Bravissimo fan here - it sounds like you're in the wrong size bra. Bravissimo fitters fit the band quite tightly and then the shoulder straps don't take as much of the strain. Expect to go down one or two band sizes and go up several cup sizes. Their fitters don't use a tape measure - they fit by looking at the bra and can advise on different styles to suit you best.
They have some really pretty bras, but are all designed to give you excellent support and a good shape.

This has been my experience too. I have am M&S bra in my size that I wear but others in the same size fit me? Weird or what? The one that fits isn't that old either.

Will try the suggestions - thanks.

Thank you for the replies so far. I have looked at the Bravissimo and they look very pretty. I think my first thing though is to find somewhere to get measured properly and I havnt been successful with M&S.

Im handy for Bolton, Wigan, Leigh, Chorley and Manchester at a push. Any suggestions where is best to go please.
    Thanks

I'm only a B cup but never had any luck with bras or fitting in M&S, my friend who is much larger chested always uses Bravissimo (must admit, I'm jealous that I can't!). I know where I am there are small local bra fitters that are very good, maybe there are some smaller shops close to you?
