I started full time work at age 14 years and 1 month old in Dublin in 1966.

I was a petrol pump attendant and then an office boy.

I worked for a year before restarting school in England when my family moved back there.

I see my comments were deemed by someone as "personal abuse"

    That is odd as all I said, further to the above was;

"Imagine if someone thought you were being serious.

    That would be ridiculous"

Someone has a very thin skin.

I wonder if it was the person who calls members of the judiciary peadophiles, and other posters psychopaths?

Wasn't me. Forum admins are usually in the same kind of category too, usually don't think they have enough power in the real world so want to push people around online for petty things that don't matter.

My point still stands though, the judiciary are cowards and certainly not honourable.

They stopped calling them Inspectors where I used to drive PCV's a long time ago. Now called revenue protection officers. They can board at any point on any route & they do not just check the passengers. They check driver receipts too. I often used to challenge "children" by asking for their date of birth - if they had to think about it - you knew thay were trying it on. 16 has always been adult age for buses - used to be 1/2 fare then gov't said 2/3rd fares. Bus passes can be obtained for all ages either paid for or free if in receipt of certain benefits - they're not just for OAP's. Infact there can be huge savings if doing it yearly.

Oh they're overseers now? As in slave overseers, funny how many people never challenge the use of that word.

You are mistaken, any one can use "reasonable force" to make a citizens arrest. Although, in this case, it would require fare dodging to be an "indictable offence" which it may not be
Unfortunately this would not be classed as fair dodging, a fair had been paid albeit half, the other half is merely a civil dispute.

Still you would be dealing with a minor, and in respect of that, using force albeit reasonable to you in the eyes of plod may not be, to me laying hands and using any force on a minor should be avoided and anyone doing so to cause harm distress or alarm leaves themselves open to explanation to plod.

    So cowards, peadophiles and dishonourable.

Have you got a link for the stats that prove that please?

Oh yeah and some proof that your fellow posters are psychopaths.:D

I don't care about your regulation

There's no authority without conformity. In other words, a person only has authority if you agree that they do.
Yes, even the police.... after all, they are strangers.
Alternatively if someone has the appropriate ID, and have passed your own doubt test, then why not make things easy for everyone.

Or of course follow your advice and look unco-operable, refuse to give details on the odd chance they are a bogus person...

So naturally we would think that 18 is the classed as adult fare...
With theme parks suggesting 12 years olds are "Adults", then you need to reconsider what you think an adult is.

It's a shame our country doesn't make an official age for adulthood that everyone understands. 18 is no longer an adult these days.

And if you do not provide details/walk away, they have the right to detain you.
    no they don't!
No one has the right to detain you other than the plod with good reason.
Please point me to your source, which tells us that Citizens Arrest is no longer valid.

Citizens Arrest is not as extensive a power than people tend to believe. However, Transport officials generally have the power to detain for the purposes of enforcing the Bye-laws, anyway.

If the person is a regular traveller and uses the bus often i would expect them to know ages for travelling on different tickets etc... and might have been trying their luck

If they usually just wave a school bus pass and get on i think it could be a mistake.

Either way surely the honest thing to do is to pay up.. if parents think its a genuine mistake they could go 'halves' on the fine, if they think it was there child trying their luck, I think the child should pay.

I have mistakenly .. many years ago as a new driver parked somewhere with free parking for 30 minutes so not bought a ticket.. turns out i should have.. different county, not experienced on street ticket machines before .. so i paid up as I did wrong. Valuable lesson, i always read signs properly now.
