He will not go onto PIP as there will be no such thing, at the moment they are stalling for time, Capita and ATOS are not giving us the information we need, it is kept in their offices, and until their contract is sorted, they will not release the paperwork, meaning we have nothing to assess a case, this is why people are having extensions. Not because it is thought that people are entitled to the money, but because we have no information. Your son, if it has not been resolved by November will get another 12 months extension. Hope that helps. Forget about PIP that is going to disappear.

So is it returning to DLA - As if nothing had happened or are they coming up with something else ?

Thanks for your insight. Having worked for the DWP, I know how quickly these bright (reform) ideas descend into chaos and unworkability. :wall:

You really have just confirmed the thoughts of ex colleague friends I still have working for the department.

More ESA claims are being accepted (before appeal) than IB ever were!

The rumours around some Welfare Rights organisations, etc., is that PIP will just become DLA, by another name, and eventually get back to where it started, sort of thing.

It will rely largely on GP and consultant evidence, with only a few actually being physically assessed.

Hundreds of millions of pounds wasted, and the system will remain the same as it was....

I am constantly astonished that Dismal Duncan Smith continues to stay in post......

That's very informative jenny, thanks for your insider perspective. Can I ask a question on what you think might happen in this particular situation?

My son was 16 in November 2013 and his dla was supposed to stop then. However, they automatically renewed it for a year as they said he would have to apply for pip, they were aware of delays, and didn't want his money to stop.

So, dla now runs til November this year. Pip application sent to us in jan, and had to be returned by February, which I did. Heard nothing until a couple of weeks ago when a letter came through saying application received and there would be a medical assessment at some point.

Our area is done by capita rather than atos. Bearing in mind it's already 4 months since application went in, if my son didn't hear anything by November do you think his dla would be extended again?

I appreciate you might not know the answer, just thought I'd throw it out there!

DLA carries on until a PIP decision is made. Even if DLA is due to stop in November and a decision isn't made by then.

PIP will disappear as it is unworkable, DLA is going to remain, but I have information that although it will still be DLA it will be given another name, they are trying to think one up that make the general public think that things have changed, but in reality they haven't. The government is fully aware of how much money has been lost, and yet they are still strutting around pretending that things have changed for the better, they are worse, and now, with many people not needing medical evidence there is more fraud happening.

It might not amaze you then, to know that a lot of the Doctors that are on the tribunals, also worked for ATOS, talk about double standards, it is well known in our office. That Duncan Smith is only in a job at the moment, because if he was to be moved, or sacked, it would become public knowledge that he has made a mess. The Government do not need a scandal at the moment, especially with the election due.

No I am at home, another day where we have all been sent home early, we still receive the same amount of pay though. There is a skeleton staff of two in the office, out of 7, we take it in turns to man the phones.

I have been working with the DWP for 23 years, I have never ever been so sick and tired of the whole system, I have loved my job, but now I am truly thinking of taking another post, or leaving altogether, if I take redundancy I will receive £54,000, but as I am only 45 it is a big decision to make.

You say you work for the tribunals service then the DWP? The tribunals service is not part of DWP as far as I am aware so how does that work?

And if you do work for the DWP and are sat playing solitaire all day you are not conforming to the departments electronic media policy. And if you are all sat there with nothing to do you need to get a better manager who will find work from other departments/another area to ship in.

I know, although, to be honest, I didn't think that ATOS themselves were the cause of half of the misery - they were just 'following orders'.

They were set targets and test is where the fun always starts

The buck starts and ends with this stunningly incompetent government. They have applied idealology, even when being told by experts that the system and the IT systems cannot cope hence the chaos with Universal Credit as well.

They may keep the name of PIP, but it will be DLA Mark 2 lol

To be honest, I wish taxpayers would understand how much of their money is being wasted, but, thanks to comics like the Daily Mail, they see IDS as a saviour.......if only they knew, eh?:rotfl:

    Thanks again.

If you are seconded to the DWP section that deals with tribunals, you cannot just wander about doing other work.

Playing games on your own device is not against any policy, and if there is no work, then managers cannot find any!

Look at the real issue here!

Yes it will carry on. November is only 5 months away, it is going to take a lot more than 5 months to sort this lot out, in fact, if the Tories come back after the election, I bet you that Duncan Smith will be sacked, if Labour win or even UKIP they are going to inherit a lot of debt and an unworkable system, with a DWP with very few experienced staff.

Oh trust me you can. If any team is lacking work they will ship work from all over the place, and if they aren't doing, it's poor management. I should know, it was only last year I was doing work shipped in from other offices.

And you are not permitted to play games on any device during working hours, only at lunch and break times.
