  • Hi, Just seen your post on MSE I would like to open one of these purely for putting £3000 in and getting interest. I DO NOT WANT TO SWITCH BANK ACCOUNTS HOWEVER. Do you know if its possible to just open one ? Thanks

Yes, of course, switching isn't compulsory for any account.
  • Are these easy to open/get with poor none/credit history? (Just moved back from overseas and as such don't have the three years of address to fill in without .... stretching.... some dates). I don't want an overdraft so I'm wondering if that means they are less likely to credit check

Even if you don't want an overdraft, banks will credit check for a current account (as it is possible to go overdrawn).

Are you on the Electoral Roll?

Have you had any problems opening any other accounts, credit cards or getting loans? If the answer is no, then I wouldn't worry, if the answer is yes, I'd apply anyway, what's the worst that can happen?

Is the fee for not depositing £750 per month gone? I can't see any reference to it on the Tesco website.

There is no longer a funding requirement. Ergo, no fee is charged.

T&Cs were changed last year sometime.

It used to be, but the fee was removed in September.

    Fair enough, thanks both.

Yeah, it seems like a nice option just to store cash in if you're already using better current accounts and regular savers.

Need some more savings accounts, so thinking of Tesco current account as it pays 3% upto £3000, from reading this thread sounds like no minimum monthly payment needed. Could anyone tell me if they still required 2 DDs and if so will ones to their instant saver be ok. Also been trying to find out how many you can have, single, or single+joint.
Typically confused and asking for advice
