If you need to take out a large amount of money, where can this be done?
You can move upto 10k a day to a linked account. See here:

did you have to clarify something about them on the phone?

they told me they do not require anything else from me and I should just get something in the post...within 5 working days (ie by friday), so I do wonder what 'checks' they are doing if they require nothing further from me

I just had to list them so they could match them to what they could see on the system - presumably an anti-fraud thing.

They also didn't see any reason why I'd be calling them (I didn't use the 0845 number in the voicemail) the first time I called (the departments don't seem to be connected very well). Shortly after confirming the address details I got a text saying my application was approved - have you received that? If not I guess the computer didn't automatically accept you and you have to wait for a human to decide.

no I got no text as yet...maybe like you said a 'human' needs to check/verify details :D

You would need to transfer money to a linked account (upto 10k a day) and then make an arrangement with that bank to collect cash.

You can withdraw cash at selected Tesco stores: http://www.tescobank.com/help/deposits-and-withdrawals.html?tpfpgid=WaysToBank&navid=LinkSelectedStores

They say it is £500 max.
  • I tried to apply for a second current account. The start of the process says I already have two and I can't have more than two. BUT I only have one!
I called on Saturday, quite late, and they thought it was because there was a second customer number for me for a savings account closed I had in about 2009/10. Anyway I'd need to call again to speak to another team who were not there late that day.

I've been trying various 0800 numbers but all direct you to a 0845 number and the landline alternatives only work from abroad apparently. It is likely to be a long call to get it sorted hence I wanted a 0800 number. Anyone know one that still works please?

Try inserting 141 before dialling the landline number that's supposed only to work when you're calling from abroad.

OK thanks I'll try that tomorrow. Will it work with 18185?

Possibly not. You'd have to try it.
