Snowing here too now. It really needs to stop!
  • Quick lecture about food expiry dates, just in case anyone hasn't realised.

Use by = if you eat this food after this date it could kill you. It would be illegal to sell food after this date.

Best before = they make us put a date on the food but it won't hurt you if you eat it later than this. Some things might go a bit soft/hard (obviously the one you don't want them to) but will still be nice, other things won't be affected at all. Even a little bit. Most people are too stupid to realise this, though, so we have to sell these foodstuffs off to Approved Foods for the intelligentsia to buy :D

Porky princess has decreed snow is fun. We must play in the snow it is the law.

    15349 steps today have had
    Thai green curry rice pot
    Tomato soup
A mandarin pot to eat feeling sick.
  • Worcestershire sauce improves with keeping. If you are very lucky you might be able to taste some decades old. So having to put a "best before" date on it, as required by law, gave the makers a real headache! Apparently "best after" was not an option!

By the way WaS, the snow that falls will eventually percolate down to the underground strata and emerge as rivers that can be tapped for the water that is treated to come out of domestic taps - into the glass of water you should be drinking!
Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.

    ^^^^ hear! Hear!
The same goes for tinned food. Unless the tin is 'blown', the best before date is meaningless as tinned food can last 'for ever'. What can happen is that it can discolour/lose it's colour/texture, but is still ok to eat and still nutritious.

I think that in most cases our noses can tell us if it's ok to eat. Or our taste buds.
A food that fails all of the LSTT test probably isn't ok.......
