  • Ooooo - are giant marshmallows in stock at Approved Foods? They went down VERY well here last time. Mr JM is always trying to stop me buying stuff at AF, but he loved those!

I found some in a local Tesco, but they were over £4 a bag

Ukes are tuned the same as violins, aren't they? (G D A E, upwards from bottom string?) They seem to be very trendy ATM, you trendsetters you!

Off to AF to see what they have (hoping for Indian hampers as well....)

Hugs to all who need them, reality for WaS and a little reindeer to press for luck, special hugs for tea. (((())) :rudolf:

May I have a very small rant while I'm here - the hugs make me think of it.
On a training course today talking about what touch is appropriate in an advocacy setting. And the trainer started going on about people with learning disabilities and that hugs are the only way to express themselves, especially people with Down's Sydrome. Now whilst I fully appreciate the importance of touch for people with communication and other difficulties, there isn't a bloody hugging gene especially associated with Down's syndrome. Patronising twaddle.
I'll get off my soapbox now.

  • There are lots of packets of Indian Curry foods by Neesa, JM that are 5 for £1. They are wonderful, buy them all. Thank you for my lucky reindeer, I am pressing him!

Ugh, that is painfully stereotypical, elsien. As is the belief that "All people with Downs syndrome are lovely and huggy and sweet" which people used to tell me a lot when I was working. It is a total insult to them as individuals, they are as unique as everyone else is. I have met lovely people and mean ones, just like everyone else.

WaS, I am here and I am real. I know this because if I were not real, I wouldn't be so cold. Brrrr.

I've never done an Approved foods order, probably because DH lurks in the kitchen waiting for things to pass their date by a second then bins them. He'd bin my entire order.

  • Do you still have snow,.code? We got a bit of rain but then back to sunshine. I am sure that my lovely winter weather is avoiding me on purpose.

Approved Foods do sell some items that are not out of date, but you would miss the best bargains by only buying those. We have been using them for 6 years and haven't once had anything that has gone off or made us ill. It can be hard to convince people who follow the best before dates though, I had a friend who was absolutely horrified at my out of date food stock and was waiting for me to keel over at any second.

I also know I'm real because I did a run for the first time since before Christmas. Forgot to do stretches afterwards. And now can't walk.
I think I may be a fair weather jogger - rain, wind, low temps or snow and my motivation stays in bed. As do I.

I have a slightly odd line of reasoning re out of date food. I can happily keep food at home (bought in date) for months after the sell by date and it's not a problem, I'll use it at some point. But I can't bring myself to buy out of date food from someone else without going uurrgh. Completely irrational, but there you go.

It is currently snowing a blizzard outside. I hope it lies because it seems to be good packing type snow which would make an excellent snowman.

  • Ouch, elsien! Is Gitdog smouldering yet?

I am so jealous, code. We didn't get any snow last year either, I live in totally the wrong part of the country for the weather I like.

You should move to one of the Islands WaS. Great scenery, very few people and constant wind and rain :rotfl:

Don't be jealous. It's freezing here. Even with the heating cranked up and under a duvet I'm still shivering, and this is one of the warmer rooms of the house.

Gitdog is being thick, hasn't sussed out that a fire = warmth and has instead decided to wage a hostile takeover bid for my blanket. Will have to go off line shortly to give him his quality time on my lap before we head for bed.
Code, I don't think I could live in your part of the world, lovely though it is. My chilblains are bad already and it hasn't really been that cold as yet.
