Wow, well done on the response you got last time code. (Coincidentally, I have always dreamed of working for a literary agent or publisher)
Some vague ideas....
Do you have a blog? Any issues (local or otherwise) you could get passionate about? What about writing competitions?0 -
Well, I've always understood that it's good to write about something you know, be it a place, a section of society, a type of workplace, a hobby, an experience, etc....
Why not write about being a codemonkey, the personalities you are surrounded by, the foibles, and the trials and tribulations?
OR, the Sterling Adventures Of Dumbass Dog!
Edit. What was it you wrote about before?(I just lurve spiders!)

Everytime before I attempt to write the ongoing book (ongoing foreverrrr) I find it helpful to sit down and just write anything at all that comes into my head. About the weather, shopping lists, anything. Just to get into the frame of mind of writing and seeing words on a page. This was a tip from my teacher friend who is a published author. He still writes now and he allocates a certain amount of words a day, say 500 as a goal which he finds helpful.
But he has always said the trick at first is to sit down and write anything at all that comes into your head (forget grammar and spelling), and eventually you will find something pops up that inspires you.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I have a blog. It's linked in my profile. I also wrote one about being a crazy bride before I got married, and another one about infertility.
Writing about being a code monkey would be very dull indeed. Unless I wanted to write something for insomniacs. Ooh, it could be a cure!
The book I wrote was about a girl who worked as a waitress and hated all her customers and was trying to make her life better. I also have started one about a serial killer who goes about killing people who use too much business speak.
If anyone wants to read my other blogs, I'll PM the links to you.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Ah, I remember the blog now (knew it rang a bell somewhere). I had one too - blimey it was rubbish (mine, not yours lol). Although to be fair it was more of a ranty diary to get me through IVF rather than something I thought anyone else would want to read.

Mine was rubbish too - a ranty diary describes it perfectly. As was my novel really.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Then I have phone problems and it looks as if I'm going to be without a mobile for ten days / two weeks, which essentially means much more limited contact with fir weekdays.
Then finally a bill needs paying and the person only takes cheques. Who only takes cheques these days, not bank transfers? I haven't got a clue where a personal cheque book is even.
I had to order a cheque book from my bank last year (I didn't think people still used them either!) to pay for a voices book for Harry, as they only took cheques.
Snow here too!

Believe me, cheques are alive and well and still being used!
A couple of,years ago, my bank wanted to discontinue them, and there was such an outcry that they abandoned that plan, thank goodness!(I just lurve spiders!)

I usually pay everything with my credit card & earn whilst spending
Shuffled out to return some sale stuff & bought me another onesie, fought against them for years but I got a lovely good quality bear one in M&S for half price at £15! Just bought the same in a creamy colour for £11.99  I suppose I'm a bit old for hoods with ears .... but it's so warm that I've had to turn the heating off! I can't wait to get into it. During a mad moment last week I was going to wear it to hospital0
