Over Christmas I realised that I have become a person who is more comfortable in jeans and wellies than skirts and heels. 10 years ago I lived in pencil skirts and heels and wore stockings every day. Now I live in jeans with dresses over and converse or wellies. How did that happen?

    I love

  • The same way that I spent years as a goth wearing thigh boots, velvet mini dresses and loads of silver jewellery and now wear jeans, leggings and t-shirts! It happens, code! I miss those days...

I was goth too - corsets, long flowy skirts, dms, and tons of velvet. I was pretty rubbish at it though. I smile too much. Also my days of tiny a line mini skirts over the knee socks and baby tees are over too (I'm totally dating myself with this one). Perhaps one day I'll look back at my wardrobe now and wonder why I only wear beige and those tartan skirts that most old ladies wear ( do you get a kit?) Or maybe I'll be fabulous like millefleur.

Hahahahaha! I am sure it's a kit! I plan on being just like Milliefleur, jeans, long blonde hair with a fringe and shiny scarves in my 90's!

I still have all my goth jewellery and some of the clothes for sentiments sake. It just doesn't really go with jeans and t-shirts. I remember corsets, and stockings! Everything had to be either black or purple, including my hair. I also used to cover the palest foundation in talcum powder for that white as sheet look and give myself enormous panda eyes with copious amounts of eyeliner. I took to painting crosses and spiders on my cheek for a while...

This went on to when I was working, too. Obviously, I toned it all down for work and looked relatively ordinary but on our first Christmas lunch I turned up as I always did when not at work. People's jaws dropped...

    It's the Brain Pathway Theory.

The brain pathway that rules going out clubbing starts shutting down just as the pathway that rules gardening begins opening up.

  • Hahahahahaha! I can remember clubbing twice a week for years! I was a huge party girl in my late teens and early 20's, I get exhausted thinking about it now! (Obviously goth clubs, where occasionally we did odd dances to Bauhaus but mostly sat around drinking snakebite and black and looking serious).

  • I was a goth chick too, used to frequent the Mayfair in Newcastle <3

Still tend towards that style of dress and never really lost my love of black and purple :) just can't get away with the level of it I used to in my teens :)

  • So many goths! I still lean to towards black clothes, flowing skirts and boots when I make the effort. I kept the long hair, too and yes, my eyeliner is still heavy.

Thank you all for making me smile today! I am way too old to have been a goth, it was either Mod or Rocker in my days... I was a bit Mod.

After reading back (I'm working this week so can't keep up so well with you all) I think I had some sort of bug, but nothing like I've ever had before. I truly thought I had something awful wrong (I think you might have guessed I am a bit of a hypochondriac but with a dread of the doctors) :(

Anyway, the pain and burps have gone and I am almost back to normal, whatever that may be! Get well soon all you poorly ones!

Before I slip back into lurkdom I just wanted to say Happy New Year! to you all. I will be having an early night so I wanted to get it in now! :)
