She is on DH's lap now so I will give her 5 minutes to see if she drops off. She got over-excited and over-fussed-over and now bursts into tears if you so much as look at her.

Awww bless, how old is she?

Hopefully you've managed to get her to bed by now

Just wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas. I know it can sometimes be difficult at this time of year, for the pas 6/7 years or so my mood has crashed around this time and i've been very depressed, i know you may feel as though you have to be happy cos everyone else is, but i wanted to say if you need a bit of personal time, time to yourself, im sure your families/loved ones will understand. Remember to look after yourselves. Have a lovely time, i'm thinking of you all :)

  • Yes, have a lovely day everyone. Or have a quiet day, if you are by yourself - enjoy the better than usual telly and remember to give yourself a treat today (it could be some lovely music, some time admiring a great work of art, even on tinternet, or a period reminding yourself that you are a precious, unique individual: remember to take time to love yourself.)

Merry Christmas team WaS. Hope we all have a great one. I'm going to put my new slippers on and make a nice breakfast while DH takes dumbass dog for walkies before we go to visit family. Dumbass dog is currently sleeping beside a massive turkey bone. I think he got more presents than I did!

Enjoy your day, whatever you end up doing x

The upside to littlewing's late-to-bed is that she didn't get up until 8.45am. She is playing with her new toys, and is very happy indeed. Even DS is pleased with his Santa presents, thus proving that you are never too old for Father Christmas!

Christmas has always been important to me as an adult. Some childhood ones were very disappointing, so whoever I am with now (even if it's just me), I make a point of making it special. And if extended family pick an argument or get stroppy, I have developed tactics to reduce the effect it has on my celebrations.

For anyone out there who is hurting, ill or feeling lonely today, you aren't alone - you're here with us and next year will be a better one for you, inspired by this thread. There may be things that go a little wrong sometimes but we will pick you up, and walk with you again. Please take care everybody and have a happy, peaceful, loving Christmas.

We are off to my family for lunch later. I am looking forward to hearing about your days.

    Hope WaSp feels better, WaS.

    Lovely words , Whitewing!

And lovely Siberian Santas! I had never heard of them, so find them fascinating!

Well, had a full cooked breakfast (!) with Buck's Fizz and smoked salmon, then went out for a short walk in the sunshine. Now having a relax before Christmas lunch, as, true to form, am not feeling 100% - throat is threatening to erupt again, typical, despite my having taken things really carefully over the last two weeks. A pain, as I'd have liked to walk into the village to see the decorations.
All the guests got given presents......a very novel idea, in more ways than one. They were all books, and all wrapped up. You picked an envelope inside which was a festive card with a number on it. The number corresponded to the number on a parcel, and that was your prezzie! All the books were of neutral themes - art, literature etc and we were told we could swop them if we liked! I thought that was a lovely touch, and well thought through.
In the lounge is a big log fire and a huge, huge tree, real! And squishy armchairs and sofas!
Last night we had a candlelit dinner. Lunch today will be four courses! Then there'll be a film show of "Philomena". And then a buffet meal!!!

It always amazes me that while I can feel full-up all day on just one meal at home, when I'm away at Christmas, I can pack away three huge meals plus all sorts of titbits inbetween!

Mmmm! I can smell lovely cooking smells wafting up to my room! How can I be hungry after a cooked breakfast? But I am! :D

Enjoy your meals, folks, and have a lovely day! :)

Sounds blissful, pyxis. We had chocolate for breakfast and biscuits for elevenses. I must eat plenty of veg with lunch and drink plenty of water.

DD is playing with the wrapping paper.
