    I spy new people! Hello!

I never knew that they did eye tests at home, that's wonderful! I could have had it done years ago! I will most certainly apply for that, that is so much less stressful than walking into somewhere in the daytime with people. Thank you so much everyone for finding that out, I am hugely relieved!

Hahahahaha Funny you should mention confusing the two. My GP does smear tests at home, too. Get me on a confused day and it could happen! I am not sure who would be the more horrified... anddddd now I am in hysterics at possible curly hair jokes!

Jobbing musician, I'm sorry, I cannot do that, I only have an ipad and I can barely use that. ( but want to a knowledge I've read what you are doing)
  • Hmmm, a weird blank page with 2 smileys JM, curious! I like surprises so I won't look!

There is a way to brush your hair? You mean you don't just put the brush on top of your head and pull down hard? Oh, dear...

Well, that's exactly what I thought you did too! But no, you start at the bottom 2", get that right, then move up section by section. It also has the advantage that when you do the bottom bit you can hold the hair above so you are pulling against your hand, not against the roots of the hair! :D

  • I shall add as a footnote to the looking after my hair section of goals!

Incidentally, this is the first time I have set myself goals for 4 years. I think that this is proof that this thread is helping me an awful lot. Thank you everyone, I actually feel excited about completing them.

    Hello.:wave::
I've been loitering for a while, because you're so articulate about how things are for you and I am impressed by your strength in dealing with it.
My knowledge of mental health issues is limited so I didn't want to jump in and say something crass. But now I've outed myself, I hope I can contribute something useful once in a while.:)

Phew! I thought it was me being dense!

Yes, I only have an iPad, too, and nothing happens! So now I'm burning with a curiosity that's getting curiouser and curiouser! :rotfl:

Feel free to pop in anytime, elsien! Sometimes it's nice to chat about things that aren't mental health related, I don't get much of a chance to do that in real life! Never worry about jumping in with anything at all, anyone is welcome here. Oh, and do ask if you have questions. Questions make me feel useful and not so self-indulgent.

I bet I'm more curious than you are Pyxis! All I have seen so far is 2 oddly positioned smileys!

Elsien, I too am often worried about saying the wrong thing.

I am hoping that WaS will feel she can say ' I don't want to talk about that now' or 'that topic is something I'm not comfortable with'. She's very open, and for example, when we were talking about hair, I was mind ful to say, just because I do this doesn't mean she has to!

I hope WaS will accept that she doesn't have to answer/ do what we suggest/ try everything however strongly we recommend it to still have our support/ fondness. I worry those voices or her doubts will make her feel our 'kind ness' is indivisible from our 'approval' or her 'agreeing' which is not the case. Of course it would be wonderful to see things improve, and definitely those goals seem good to me, I'm not saying she should strive.

I'm trusting WaS when she said we don't upset her. Its all I can do. But I want her to know, WaS I want you to know, that in trusting you with that statement you need to trust us to tell us when to back off, or when you just don't wanna do something. You wanna brush your hair from the roots? It might be cathartic, and brushing your hair for the roots is better than other methods of self harm! :D so its ok to say to us....oh go and play in moon sand will you! ;) and trust that we won't take offence.

Thank you elsien. I don't think experience is required. I am learning here.

LiR/Elsien - I too am learning, I often am unsure what to say and trust WaS and others would get any post they were not happy with removed. Please mention on here if you are uncomfortable, or send a pm if you would prefer :)
