Whitewing I love the dress idea- it made me smile. I see WaS striding in to appointments hair loose and billowing and a stunning dress and veil with gorgeous shoes...
Lostinrates that made me smile.
WaS I love the desserted beach idea. You could pick up pretty shells, dip your does in the sea and maybe even build a sandcastle. Little one and I make moon sand at home and build sandcastles with that it is a lot of fun. Although it gets literally everywhere.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

Hahahaha Haybel, the amusing thing is my psychiatrist would try very hard to act calmly as if it wasn't out of the ordinary which would be hilarious as I sat there in a billowing dress. I'd actually love to do it!
I love the beach and watching the waves and it is what I miss the most. Even if it is a journey in the middle of the night I am determined to make it.
Mine turns into a mass of frizz, LIR! It is very fine but hairdressers always comment on how much of it there is and with it being wavy I end up with a bush. It is also very dry which doesn't help! The longer I leave it between washes the more it grows sideways!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I don't use shampoo very much, only at the hair dressers, so every six weeks max. I use conditioners. only at home, this helps with frizz and dryness. I have very fine hair too. Mines not very thick because I have suffered a bit of hair thinning ( though its stable now, just not re grown). Fir ( DH) has curly hair too, but his is both incredibly thick and coarse, and less frizzy. He uses very little shampoo too, and rarely needs product because his is less dry, because its shorter I think.0 -
Ooooh, I should try that, LIR! I probably use too much shampoo as it takes ages to lather. I have gone to bed with cooking oil on my hair before now which works for a while but give it a couple of days and it is a bush again. The worse thing is the tangles which quickly turn into matts, it is rarely flat to my head. I used to use a hair straightener but I have been told not to do that or even use a hair dryer because it is so dry. Letting it dry naturally makes the waves bounce but one night in bed and it's just a pile of frizz again. I do like it though, because when it is tamed it does look good. That is one to add to my nice things list! I have good hair!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

There is a very good book called curly girl. I gave away my copy but pretty sure it covers wavy hair too.
It talks about avoiding bed head ( you tie it in a bun on top of your he'd....fir calls me little Mi, from the moomins, when I do this) and some product advice. I do some of it but not all of it. Heat etc is torture for our dry, fine hair, and my hair loves being shampoo free. I will sometimes diffuse my hair dry, but my hair will be cross about the shampoo to day, and the straightening. ( my hairdresser gives it two treatments as some gesture of apology, and fir will scrub it for me with brown sugar, one of my hairs favourite treats, and a deep conditioning treatment and the week end0 -
Brown sugar? Maybe I should try that! I shall cut back on the shampoo and see if that helps, too. I'll also try putting it up at night, right now I have hairbrush phobia every morning because I know it is going to hurt. I'll see if I can find the book, too. I really don't want to cut it short again and it looks odd if I do anyway, it ends up kind of flat on top and goes out into a triangle shape!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I mainly use fingers to 'brush' mine when its wet. I don't know what wavy girls would do. I wonder if you treated your hair as if it were curlier if it would go curlier, its sounding very 'curly', the triangle issue etc.
If you stop shampooing it feels really odd at first. Takes a while to get used to it. You need two conditioners. One cheapy value one is fine, then a more conditioning one. You use the value one ( costs very little) to scrub hair ( head upside down, not sure if its the same for wavies) then leave on for a while,......a bit as if it were shampoo, then condition as normal.
You can put some of the cheapy conditioner in the mid lengths and ends of hair as a sort of 'product' not too much, you'll get used to it, and NOT on your scalp as it will feel icky!
May work for you or may not. Ever curly/ wavey is different.. I use different products in different weather, and different ones from Fir.
But its nice not to have thirsty hair.
Btw, WaS, just because I/ we suggest something, you must NOT feel obliged to try it, none of us would , I'm sure, take offence, I know I won't.. What works for me works for me, you are a different person.0 -
I am grateful for any advice, LIR! I can't keep my arms raised for very long so right now my partner or carer end up dealing with it in the mornings because it is so tangly. Anything to make that easier is worth a try! If I scrunch it in my hands it does curl, although with added length if I just leave it, it tends to wave instead. I have a value conditioner and a posh one so I will give it a go, I'll take any option rather than having it all cut off, again. I don't feel like me with short hair!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Ahha!
Are you brushing it dry? Are you a curly who is brushing her curl out?
There is a sight called British curlies. For some reason it won't let me join. But I think it has a guide to curl types as defined in the curly curl book. There might be a curly girl forum too, not sure.
Yes, I'm weak ATM, hence drama over hair ATM. But in some ways its easier, because curlies don't brush, and once its not dry, and you can get it not matting, if you can find a regime that works you might find it easier. My problem is ATM I'm struggling to wash but fir will wash it for me, he loves to do it, and he's of for a week, so I have ten days to see if this makes it easier or what. Straight I've had it lobbed off to my elbows.0
