I recently discovered green chilli sauce, which is milder than the red chilli type! I love it, and put it in everything!(I just lurve spiders!)

Tobasco? I have green tobasco and lemon juice in my oysters by preference. I realise that sounds very decadent but a meal of oysters is cheaper than a meal of steak. And arguably healthier.0 -
What do oysters taste like? I have never tried them. Are they particularly fishy? Slippery? meaty even?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Slippery, which is why you slide them into your mouth and immediately swallow them. I suppose the taste may be similar to scallops, not fishes, and they can be chewed if you choose to, they're chewy rather than meaty. A bit like octopus..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Ooh, ok, thank you! I do like squid and scallops so I would possibly like those, too.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

To slide in they have to be well removed from the shell though, always fine when you get them at an oyster bar sometimes one blighter 'slips' through this stage at home.
They sit in their own juice which is a little salty and fresh.
What they taste like depends on where they are from.
Some are big and sweeter, some are smaller and certainly not worth a chew, even for chewers. Tender to the tooth if you do chew. ( I'm more of a swallower, but sometimes I'll chew a little) sometimes even a little metallic, or sea weedy.
Other indicators for taste and texture.....well, they are equated with lovers for a reason.0 -
I've always wanted to try them cooked!
They used to be the staple diet of the poor in Victorian times! Apparently Victorian rubbish dumps are full of oyster shells!(I just lurve spiders!)

I never knew that, Pyxis!
Sea weedy is good, I love sea weed. It is also a food that I have been told to eat a lot of for my thyroid function so it is just as well that I enjoy it. Sushi is another of my favourite things although it is a treat only because the budget rarely stretches that far.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Hi, just wanted to ask if it's ok for me to post in here? I'm being treated for depression and anxiety (meds and counselling). It's not the first bout of depression that I've received treatment for but it's the worst one so far.
The background is that I was unhappily married but this broke down just over a year ago (because of my own stupid actions). I was seeing somebody else who I was very much in love with and wanted to spend the rest of my life with (and she was telling me that she felt the same way) but it turned into a physically and emotionally abusive relationship which was very controlling and manipulative, so I finally tried to walk away from this a couple of months ago now, but I still miss her very much and it still hurts . . . a lot (understatement!)
On days when my depression and anxiety spiral out of control, it all feels very scary inside my head. I have a beautiful daughter who is nearly 3 years old and who I still see a lot of (2-3 sleepovers per week plus some daytime spent together as well) and she means the world to me.
I hope it's ok for me to post in this thread? If not, but you can point me in the right direction where I might receive a bit of support on days when things get really scary, I'd be very grateful.0
