Next to toothbrush? Am trying to think of things you'll see each morning.0

Whitewing, I'm finding current medication regimen very tricky, morning and evening are easie for me, its the during day time slots I find hard. Your post just prompted me to take the late afternoon one which I had forgotten, and is the hardest for me to time.
Morning ones I take in bed. ( because my routine is slightly odd its actually after I've been up, fed and walked dogs and done birds and checked horses, ...then it go back to bed for a bit . As I get back to bed I take my pills and mauve squeaker ATM as her medicine.
Like wise evening i take pills when I go to loo and I do mauves meds ( long term) , mine.
The day time doses are far harder. I have memory problems and when my routine is significantly different its very hard for me to remember eith of the two day time doses. The midday dose is easier normally. The dose marked as 'tea time' is hardest.0 -
I have 3 different alarms for medication, different tunes for what is due but I also associate them with things. When I wake up I have my morning dose next to my electronic cig, as soon as I reach for that I take my meds. Then some with lunch, some with dinner and then before bed. The only problem with this is the anti-acids that need to be taken 30 minutes before eating, I often forget those. I still forget them all sometimes without WaSp here to remind me but it is easier if I associate them with activities. I also keep my pills in 4 dispensers that are labelled with days of the week and for various times of the day. I keep that next to me at all times, next to my tea cup so that everytime I pour some tea I see it and can check that the right compartments are empty.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Reminds me of an article I read about habit stacking. Which I keep meaning to try and still haven't - no idea if it'd be any use, but I found it interesting.

Thank you for all your good wishes. Seems appropriate somehow that part of the job is an independent mental health advocate. Which is going to be an interesting learning curve given my complete lack of knowledge about the areas where this is used. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I was a mental health advocate for a while, elsien, it isn't that difficult although can get a little complicated if you find yourself up against legislation. For me, it depended on the needs of the individual, a lot was acting on their behalf to various medical teams and generally being an ear to listen. You are so well suited to it and I bet you will get a lot out of it, it isn't dissimilar to representing the rights of individuals within residential care. So happy for you that you have this job, you are going to be great!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

So you'll get training that will make you even more employable for the future too?
Win win!
Code monkey, how are you feeling. Hope you didn't feel bombarded about the course. I know I was probably a bit over enthusiastic in my encouragement.0 -
OMG elsien, are you really going to be an IMHA? I will PM you!
It's a really fab job, and it makes you INCREDIBLY employable! - there does seem to be a national shortage of good experienced people, even with 'the cuts'!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

What you said made sense actually. And all of you reminded me how much I love alone time in hotel rooms. As it turns out there will be training up here soon so problem solved.
Elsien, you have this thread as experience.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
The IMHA bit is only a small part, it's more general advocacy but it's all a bit of variety which is part of the attraction, and lots of new things to learn.
I'm working on the basis that when the Care Act kicks in properly in 2016, they're going to need lots more of me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
