I have been brave and booked myself in for a smear and the coil. First smear I have had in many, many years. Find them painful but apparently the nurse is absolutely lovely.

Now need to blot it out of my mind for a few days.

Don't feel physically good totally, (ladies' troubles, so that is partly why I've got the motivation).

  • Oh, whitewing you have my sympathy. I am years late for mine, I have huge problems with having them done. My GP offered me the option to opt out of them but I can't quite bring myself to do that as I know they are important, so I just cringe and hide at the reminder letters. I think you are very brave and it will be fine, you are doing the right thing for your health.

I couldn't opt out of mine either so I hide my letters too!

Will sound very odd, but when I was partnerless and very lonely, I half-convinced myself that I was rotting 'down below' and smelt like it. (I wasn't and didn't, obviously, but that was part of the reason).

  • I can understand whitewing, our minds can convince us all sorts of things, particularly when we are feeling bad. I really do think that you are very brave for booking the appointment.

That could work, Duke! I might have a look through what I have and see if I can donate it somewhere useful, as long as it is used again I am ok with it. One of the reasons I hate booking smear tests is that I always need two. There is nothing wrong, my body is just a bit different (again!), but no matter how often I tell them that the results will come back slightly odd they still repeat it. I know it's for my own good but once is bad enough!

I've been meaning to ask you, WaS, how are you when you use your imagination? What I mean is, if I were to describe something and ask you to imagine it, the sights, the sounds etc, (nice things I mean), could it provoke an episode?
I'm not talking about a hypnotherapy-type situation, and I'm not talking about things that are personal to you, but a descriptive scene, a pleasant one. Could that be twisted in some way? Could the voices use it to be nasty?

Have you had any out of body experiences ie seeing yourself having things done to you where 'you' have been floating up near the ceiling? (I don't necessarily mean near-death experiences, but I think I have read similar for some young people being abused).

WandS - I don't really have anything to say except I'm sending love and hugs <3
  • Lovely- the fire alarm is going off in the shared house next door. By the discussions outside I have gathered that they don't know how to turn it off and only have their landlords working hours number. You know how great I am with noise... it has been an hour already although clearly it is far worse for them. I need earplugs.

    Put yiour rain on loud?

Is it blocking out the voices or are they adding to the chaos?
