Yesterday, we did some decluttering and I felt a bit cross and upset.
Once it was out of the house I am much happier. There is so much more light and space for twirling around and being free.
Had a big pile of DS' exercise books from school. I have kept maybe 20 pages in total (including an essay when we told him we were expecting a sibling, and in his essay he asked why we couldn't adopt a 10 year old instead as it would affect his life less than having a biological baby in the house. It goes without saying that he wouldn't be without her now.
Anyway, those books etc have taken up about 24 inches in height for a number of years. Now I think of fresh air and sunshine replacing that.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. whitewing, you are inspiring me! I am just lazy, don't throw enough things out. How lovely to think of light and sunshine replacing the things! xEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

That is a wonderful way of looking at it, whitewing! I might use that thought myself. You really are doing so well, I find that even throwing out items from one corner of the room can be such a relief once they're gone. Oh WaS! I really, really hope that you can move to somewhere there allows pets, even as was mentioned before, a rat in a cage. As you say, a pet is so helpful, and the ove they give you is so reassuring!
You said you hope your partner knows that you'd do anything for him. What about writing him a letter and telling him? You write so well! And on a similar note, if he wrote one to you, you could read it when you're having a bad time with the voices, to reassure you that you are loved and respected, and that the voices are wrong. In the same way as you have letters from your doctors.
Are you happier with things going into the recycling bin than into the refuse?
Also, there may be a craft place for kids that would welcome 'useful' containers for making things out of, you know, à la Blue Peter!(I just lurve spiders!)

What does your DH do, WaS? Can you say without giving too much away?
Yes, I find recycling or CSing better than binning. Recycling appeals to my 'sorting/organising' mindset. I don't imagine the finished recycled product, but I do imagine the sorting eg of all the shoes we recycled yesterday. I am sure my imagined 'recycling factories' are more Willy Wonka than grim reality though.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Aw, that is lovely idea Pyxis! I shall write him a letter although he will tell me that I am being soppy (but he would love it, really). I am far happier with recycling and try to do that whenever possible. It is the thought of something sitting lonely and unwanted in landfill that makes me sad.
My partner is a computer engineer, whitewing and a very good one. He only fixes problems for friends now as he doesn't have time to work with caring for his mother and me but he worked for an IT company for years. It is handy for me as I am so dependant on the internet to communicate with people, I am almost always guaranteed a way to get online. Luckily he actually enjoys fixing things (anything, actually), so is always willing to help. He has taught me bits of it during the years so on a good day I can fix most software and virus problems - I don't nag him too often. The handy thing about him dealing with computer problems for friends is that when they upgrade hardware they tend to give the old bits to him, the laptop I am using now was one that was discarded by someone else. Yay, I saved something unwanted!
Funny you should mention Willy Wonka, whitewing. The original film is one of the few things I can watch without triggering the voices and I love it. I adored the film as a child and my teacher friend looks like Gene Wilder which made me immediately like him at school.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Oooo WaS! Your DH sounds just like mine!
Mine used to be able to mend ANYTHING - life is so unkind, sometimes - now he has a neurological problem and has lost a lot of manual dexterity, so can'tHe still does a lot of things with computers, though, and is going to help our nephew to build his first computer

Aw, so sorry to hear about your DH, JM. I am glad that he can still do a bit though, we actually have 3 computers and 2 laptops, all put together by my partner with pieces of other discarded equipment that no one wanted. He has severe dyslexia and finds writing and reading very difficult and sadly, when he was at school no treatment was given, he was just seen as a low achiever. But he can fix almost anything, computers, electrical goods, cars. He is extremely practical which is the opposite to me. I am good academically but useless with anything that involves taking things apart.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

My DS is surprising good too. He even changed our toilet cistern from watching youtube. Saved us a small fortune in the last couple of years although he isn't so good at tidying up after!
I love the internet, but I always have it muted when I am surfing.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Clever DS! I wouldn't know where to start with something like that. My nails go in sideways, my sawing is askew and then I break the blade and we won't even go into the injuries I have caused myself with a hammer. I am totally hopeless at things like that but if you want a letter written I'm your girl!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
