Good afternoon!
Thank you so much for the reassurance, you are right it is anxiety. I worry about things that are important slipping away from me, like this thread. Logically, I know it wouldn't happen but ut doesn't stop me panicking.
I got my results back and as we thought my thyroid level has dropped. My doctor has increased my thyroxine by 50mgs (75mgs in all) and then it will be tested again shortly before I see my Endocrinologist at the end of next month. It is a relief to know for sure what is causing the problem, the only unfortunate thing is it takes a month before you fully see results so lots of sleepy time for me!
My kidney values were slightly off but that's understandable with Lupus and Addisons disease, nothing to worry about as such, i just have to make sure I drink a lot of water with the medication. Liver fine! (Shut up voices, I still don't have liver failure, so there!).
I am still producing too many white blood cells which would normally indicate an infection, except it has been this way for 7 years after numerous antibiotics and a test to eliminate Leukaemia. It is something my Endocrinologist is very interested in, he believes it is an underlying condition we haven't discovered yet and what makes my thyroid function brittle. There are several autoimmune conditions it could be but I am not showing any other symptoms so we don't know which one! Having said that it took 20 years for Lupus to show from my first symptoms, my body hides things. The problem is my body feels it is constantly fighting something which causes exhaustion, low immunity to everyday conditions and generally feeling run down, but we can't do a thing until we know more. It's weird (I'm weird).
I also got my neurology appointment for December for the cluster headaches. So that will be 5 hospital appointments in 6 weeks. Not looking forward to it!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Hail, Oh Weird One!
Haha! Weird is good! I like weird! Weird is special!
Now, no good worrying about this thread disappearing, because even if a passing meteor interfered with the internet and took out this and only this thread, well, I'm afraid you'd still be stuck with us, because we could still keep up a dialogue with you via JM! There's no easy way to get rid of Team WaS, WaS!Sorry and all that!
Boy, how you is stuck with us, honey chile!

I'm having the weirdest day ( physically). Really stupidly and self inflicted for some reason I decided I would try having a glass if wine last night. It was very small, just a quarter of a glass, but it really did odd things to me. I got really warm ( that almost never happens) and today I think my sugar levels are probably a bit weird.
I don't know why after all this time I decided to do that but I won't be doing it again. I do really miss a glass of wine every now and again though. I'd happily give up calories of meals for a day for a small glass of wine every couple of months.. Its not like I want to get drunk, or even tiddly, I just would like a small glass of nice wine.
. Like some people want chocolate.

Oh, LIR you have my sympathy, I am exactly the same. I can't drink now and I do miss it, not the getting drunk part-the enjoying the taste and the relaxation. I am exactly the same, I get really hot and then my blood sugar plummets, plus I usually develop a blinding headache very quickly and feel sick and dizzy. I was able to drink small amounts up until the last medication rise, now even a tiny glass has a bad effect. MY doctors always tell me how good it is that I don't drink, I glare at them. It's frustrating isn't it?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I am not meant to drink on my medication, so it was really stupid
When I went on this prescription a couple of years ago I was told not to drink, and I was really annoyed, I'd just decided to do a professional sommelier course...for fun. The consultant physician I am seeing now said he would have no problems with me drinking moderately on that prescription, and that he felt I had been unfairly restricted by the neurologist ( who I don't get on with anyway) and that it was silly to leave me with nothing....but, he went on to say, safely he was adding stuff into my script so that I shouldn't now drink :rotfl:
Its no good for rosacea any way. I never drink for the first three months of the year anyway, sort of like detox. Only.......it used to make me feel better not worse, :rotfl:.
And as my liver readings weren't great last time no reason to add a burden, even a tiny glass full.:o
It was amazing to be so warm though!0 -
Five suggestions:
How about hunting out the lower alcohol wines? Most are around 11-12%, but you can find some that are 8%
OR, going for beer, some of which are 3-4%. There are also some beers that are made with flavours like chocolate, fruits etc. I tasted a lovely one the other day made with oranges. I think it was from M&S.
Or, trying white instead of red wines. Sometimes it's the additives in wine that react with you not the wine itself, and white has fewer. To eliminate a lot, go for an organic wine, and/or a wine without sulphates.
I gave up wine a couple of years ago, but I do very occasionally allow myself a small glass of a sparkling white on a special occasion. Whereas wine makes me hot, red and feel funny, sparkling white, like a Prosecco, doesn't. Try that.
Finally, I find that a sparkling pressè, or a fruit syrup topped up with tonic water, or some apple juice topped with a good quality ginger beer, like Crabbies, especially if you put in a slice of lemon and ice, gives the impression and fizz of an alcoholic drink without the alcohol.
M&S's fruit pressès are particularly nice.
Ps. I don't usually buy groceries from M&S, but every so often I go in to get myself a treat or two!(I just lurve spiders!)

I love the idea of fruit syrup and tonic water!
Fir makes me non alcoholic cocktails sometimes ( again calorie and sugar issues), but I'd never go to the faff myself. But something like a fruity no alcohol sparkling drink would be simple and quick.0 -

Good ideas Pyxis! I always have a tiny glass on my birthday and Christmas which I will do this year, even if it makes me ill. It's tradition and otherwise I would feel that I was missing out! The only thing I managed to successfully have a glass of in the last few years has been champagne, it figures that the only thing that it seems I can manage would be expensive and out of my budget!
Like you, LIR I am not officially not supposed to drink on my medication at all but I can very occasionally in small quantities. It makes me feel so ill though that I don't bother anymore other than twice a year.
Hahahahaha! and very good point, hunting people down would involve leaving the house. Perhaps I should put "Hunt down Team WaS" on my goal list!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
