The famed canine sense of smell is useless. He couldn't find his treat because he was sitting on it. I think I have a special needs dog.
Actually we think he's never learned to problem solve for himself. In training if he can't do something straight away he just gives up. I'm meant to be trying to teach him to concentrate and work things out in really easy steps. Not sure how much easier than standing practically next to him it can get.
Still, keeps me busy now I've theoretically got all day on my hands. Still no time to wash up or clean the house though. Strange that.
Codemonkey, has your day off helped you ungrouch?
You can do it Elsien. I know you can. Your doing so amazingly well with him and he is absolutely gorgeous.
I have an idea on the problem solving... Max has a kong wobbler and he has to play with it in order to knock the treats out- a great way of occupying mind and burning off energy- little miss loves to watch Max with his and giggles the whole time so in our house it seems to amuse everyone.
Here is the link if any good no worries if not and hope you did not mind me suggesing.

It is very very very well made and virtually indestructible- trust me Max destruction tests everything but we have had this for 2.5 years and it still looks new- Max uses it a few times a week and absolutely loves it.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

I loved those books Pyxis- the names used to really make me laugh.
Haybel, I looked at the kong wobblers but the chap on the market said if Gitdog can murder a black kong in 2 hours, he didn't think it would last more than a day. And they're a bit expensive to take the chance. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

If it helps- there are downsides of an incredible ability to problem solve... lol Max can open every single door in our house and even lets himself out the back door. He can get anything out of or off off anywhere he likes. In fact his ability to problem solve nearly always leads to mischief and he is very rarely stumped for long and will continuously try until he has cracked something regardless of how long it takes...for example learning how to get the juice out of a carpri sun pouch drink...(he stands on it and licks the puddle).Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

Lol Max could murder pretty much any toy very very very quickly and destroys pretty much anything including toys sold as indestructible but this is so well made- the plastic is very very hard- and the shape and size not to mention the weighted bottom causing it to move make it very hard to chew. In fact despite Max being a persistant chewer Ive never ever seen him chew it. But i never leave it out- he has it whilst their are treats in it and uses it 2-3 times a week but the rest of the time he does not have it.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

I really do think that Gitdog could make you your fortune if you write about him!
Actually, at the risk of dissing him again, maybe pea brain is an overestimate!. Maybe tapioca brain is nearer the mark!
But, if he makes you your fortune, won't you be glad it wasn't any bigger than that!
It reminds me of the Verger in the Somerset Maugham story, who couldn't read or write!(I just lurve spiders!)
