    WaS! Lightbulb moment!

I know the rolling isn't exactly the same,, but could you replace the cigarette rolling with Quilling? And then you could make lots of lovely things with it!

You could do an elaborate quilled design on your Cupboard of Bloom.

I work full time as a code monkey but for the last year I've had little to do. Every time I've been assigned to a project, its ended up on the back burner and what little work I have actually done has more or less been canned leaving me feeling hopeless. I'm split between a couple of teams and I don't feel like I belong to either anymore. I used to love it (actually used to wish the weekend away), but the team changed and I got pushed out. My medical condition means I can't leave because they have actually bent over backwards to accommodate this. Anyway I've been on leave for a couple of weeks and my anxiety lessened and I started to relax but I'm back tomorrow and I'm feeling anxious, fed up and like I want to cry. I nearly had a meltdown in the supermarket because some family was crowding me and standing too close.

Don't actually need any advice but some cheering, there there's might be nice. Or a tough love - code put your big girl pants on and do what you have to do so your little family can eat.

Aye he lives in Bradford, so not too far from here, we met up in Leeds today which is handy as i can use my bus pass on the train so it didn't cost anything to go see him, and its only about £12 return from here to Bradford :)

Just had a little chat on Skype too :o

I would say i'm on cloud 9 but i think i bypassed that and am floating somewhere around cloud 348

Codemonkey - so sorry to hear of your work problems. :(
Do you have a boss or team leader that you could have a word with? Not to complain about the others specifically, but maybe to have a chat about 'how you're doing, etc., and how you could possibly improve and progress?' If your boss seems surprised and says your work is good, you could then say you were worried that it might not be, as you sometimes find it is sidelined?
I must admit, I don't know what a Codemonkey is and will google it when I've posted this.
When you've enjoyed a job as much as you have, it's definitely worth fighting to get that back! :A
However, I do know that feeling pushed out in a work situation is the pits. Big (((hug)))!
It needs investigating, I would say.

Edit. Have googled, and now know what a Codemonkey is!

I have talked to my manager about it and she's great but she's fighting for work for us all atm (there is work to be done but it's being held up further up the chain by the senior managers who need to debate everything). As for the work that's being dropped its not because I've done it badly - its because they decide they don't need that application any more, after I've spent hours coding it. As for the colleagues it was great until a new girl started on our team and she started going out for lunch with another colleague I was friendly with and didn't invite me. Then this led to a clique situation where there's a group of people I thought I was quite friendly with going out to lunch without me. I know its quite childish but it does feel like high school again.:(

For those that can't be bothered googling a codemonkey, I'm a computer programmer.
MU - yay for your successful date. :j

It's not childish at all, it's very upsetting! I'd feel the same!
This is probably STBO, but have you tried asking if you could join them for lunch? It may simply be that they've assumed, for some reason, that you don't want to come. You'd be able to sense from the reaction whether that's fine by them, or whether there's a reluctance. At least you'd know for sure that there's a problem or not.
If there is a problem, did you get to know the first colleague well enough to perhaps have a quiet word with, to check out the situation?

I do feel for you. It is horrible to start dreading work, so it is worth, perhaps, taking the bull by the horns and trying to get to the bottom of it.

I've probably missed you now, but very good luck at work today! Bounce in with a big smile on your face and say 'look who's back!' :)

And let us know how you get on. Will be thinking of you!

  • Or maybe invite them instead changing the pattern that has become the norm? That really would need your big girls pants! Pyxis's suggestion to have a quiet word with the colleague you know may be less anxiety inducing.

I was thinking along the" let's go for lunch to catch up on whats happened whilst you've been away" kind of vein?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Got a grip and have been answering phone as normal this morning.

Pharmacy have a problem with one of my meds this month and I'll have to go on one that's not slow release version so take through the day instead of all at night ( I take all my 24 hour slow release meds at night so I get the worse flush of side effects over night, it works much the best for me). I can live for a month or two though :) in fact even curious as the impact normally has lessened dramaticLly, so be interesting to see if that's different on capsules. :)
