I'm a bad owner who traumatises dogs at Christmas.
I did a series of cards over the years - mutt as santa, mutt as a reindeer, mutt as an elf, mutt as a christmas fairy (complete with wings and deelyboppers), mutt as snowman, mutt complete with hat, scarf and earmuffs and the final one - mutt dressed as a very sad and p1ssed off Christmas pudding.
It got to the stage where she'd leg it when she saw the camera.
Somehow I don't think Gitdog would be as tolerant. Although never say never......
Sad Christmas pudding!!!:rotfl:
Must see! Must see!
(But it's probably too revealing, so don't worry! I'll see what I'can dig up!)(I just lurve spiders!)

What can I say, I'm just a sad dog lady. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
No, couldn't find a Christmas pudding dog! There was a hotdog dog, a pumpkin dog, a cupcake dog, and all manner of other weird and wonderfully-dressed dogs, but no Xmas Pud.
I did find a penguin baby though! (That is, a baby dressed as a penguin!) :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

What do people think?
Are we giving our pets complexes by dressing them up for a laugh?
Or does it just depend on the pet, like it does with humans?
Are pets 'hurt' by being laughed at? Or do they see it as a game?
Oh, just remembered. I did try to put an elf hat and cuffs on her one Christmas, as well. They didn't last long either!
I don't think we shpuld laugh at them or force them in to clothes. If they enjoy it, then fine. You saw mine in antlers, they think its a hoot, if they don't like something that's a hoot that's fine.
They do have to have some things. Dog dog could not cope with the winter routine here without a coat. We spent a long time finding coats she liked, ( onsies were here preferred option) then when she broke her leg the onsie was not so comfortable afterwards, not sure why, its no where near the pin, but its not, and that's fine, we are back in normal coats, and she knows she must accept the compromise.
She hATES to be laughed at or ridiculed, but to laughed with, and the centre of attention, is a joy for her.
Personally, I prefer things like lol cats not in costumes. I don't think it all depends on the pet but the people and manner in which its done.
I have thought about using dog safe hair dye on my white dog.
ATM I'm just trying to find the best glow in the dark collar for them.0 -
Hahahahaha! I really do love your dogs, elsien. You always get such individuals! I need to look back and find the antler pic, LIR!
Aw, thank you, whitewing. I am keeping a record of how I am feeling for my psychiatrist, so far I am not craving normal cigs at all but I am feeling that I need to be doing something with my hands. If this works and I can give up normal cigs entirely I will ask my psychiatrist if we could consider reducing the e-cigs by adjusting my medication. Although simply stopping smoking normal cigs is a huge first step so I will be overjoyed if I can do this for now.
WaSp's aunt is staying with MIL so he has 3 nights off to stay with me! No word yet from BIL so we have no idea at all what happened there...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

That is excellent that you can be together without worrying about MIL.
How are the blisters etc healing now?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
What a relief, WaS! Especially to know that MIL is safe.
How nice of Aunt to step up! Presumably she's not young either?
And a super break for WaSp!(I just lurve spiders!)

This is from netdoctor:
An enjoyable ritual
Over time you'll incorporate small rituals, for example the way you open a packet, hold a cigarette or exhale smoke.
These rituals stay with you years after stopping, and are surprisingly easy to activate by crises, parties, holidays or meeting old friends and colleagues.
The satisfaction that comes from filling a pipe or rolling a cigarette are other things you'll have to do without if you give up smoking.
These activities provide the opportunity for a little bit of relaxation and 'me-time' in your day-to-day life.
It can be hard at first to find a replacement for these moments, but looking at ways to reduce your stress levels as a whole will help rather than searching for a direct substitute.

That's so true! I am not craving cigarettes at all, I miss the gestures! I just asked WaSp if I could roll him some ciggies just so that I can still do it. I wasn't expecting to miss the movements more than the actual smoking! Much to my surprise WaSp has said if I buy another starting kit he will give e-cigs a try, too so we could both be a lot healthier as a result of me setting myself on fire.
WaSp's aunt is 79 and doing very well! She is always out and about so she is having a holiday with MIL for a few days. She has said 3 days but it could be for a bit longer if they find fun things to do together. It is really nice for MIL, too so everyone is happy right now.
Oh, and the blisters are itchy! Soooo itchy! But not really painful which is good. The nurse is popping in to check on them tomorrow.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I gave up smoking some years ago. I was lucky that I didn't smoke a lot, nor for a long time really.
I still miss something to do with my hands sometimes when at social things...silly but true.
I sometimes miss the smell.
A few years ago I took a puff on someone else's and was as sick as a child trying to look blas! smoking his first clandestine ciggy.
Giving up was particularly easy for me, so I am very lucky and cannot offer any advice. But having to twiddle my thumbs the rare times I get out these days is a small price to pay I reckon.0
