I kind of agree with her that you should apply, although not set your heart on it. The care homes around here are crying out for decent, funny, caring staff, and you have that in bucket loads. There may well be a very good 'second in command' who wouldn't want the responsibility of being a manager but could support you in the gaps in your knowledge.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Elsien, forgive my ignorance, but what is a universal jobs match page?
Also, regarding the jobs, what about looking on it as getting some interview experience/trial run, especially if it's a while since your last job interview? That would shut the JC up, too! Then, if you aren't offered the jobs, it would prove your point!(I just lurve spiders!)

Hi, just popping in to say hello and fling some hugs and warm handshakes around to all you lovely supportive, funny, kind and fantastic human beings.
This is my favourite thread and although I'm still not able to post from home (ongoing tech issues grr) I read along when possible and send happy and supportive vibes.
This is such an important resource for support, learning and positive expression of very difficult issues around mental health. Thank you WaS for starting it and to all who share and care.
I'm doing pretty well at the moment and have been able to type this without any anxiety. That's massive for me so I'm off for a lovely herbal tea to celebrate.
love and peace xxxahimsa0 -

Yes, Metalswan, it's always lovely to get feedback from lurkers and visitors!
Didn't WaS do well, starting this thread? Especially as she had no idea how it would be received!
You there, WaSsie? Now you know why your hat's suddenly too small!(I just lurve spiders!)

Universal job match is a computer system that has all the job centre vacancies listed, and in theory it looks at your skills and matches you with suitable vacancies. In practice it appears more like a lottery which chucks out random vacancies according to how many r's there are in the month.
And I'm not giving them access because I'm not spending hours explaining why I would make a very bad electrician.
And to be honest after bad experiences with elderly relatives in care I don't think I could cope with older people's homes. There are some awful companies out there that I couldn't work to their low standards. That may sound picky, but if the owner wants max profit from least spending, you can't raise standards, however willing you are.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

She's too busy blushing to type now.
elsien, you know the situation in your area best - no point in doing anything that you can't summon up a bit of enthusiasm for. I reckon there's a great job somewhere waiting for you to notice it.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Did that page really suggest you be an electrician?
Assuming you don't have any electrical experience or qualifications, what on earth is the use of a programme like that? It might just as well list all the jobs in the country and say stick a pin in that lot!
Just a thought - are there any agencies that cater for your type of thing?(I just lurve spiders!)

I sometimes get people applying for my jobs by email with just the phrase
'Got any jobs?' and a phone number. No name or anything. Very impolite.
I actually rang one of them up once and panicked his mother (he lived at home) as he was still in bed. He never called me back.
I need a polite way of pointing out that they need to make some effort, but I haven't got around to drafting anything yet. Sad thing is, a lot probably are fed up with their jobcentre experiences and would be quite good with a bit of a confidence boost/ attitude change.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Good Afternoon everyone and a special hello to Metal Swan for saying hello to us all!
Well, I am going to have to use this e-cig company forever now. They didn't have my ice cream flavour refills so I had to buy cherry instead. I contacted them and asked when they would be in stock and they have sent me 3 ice cream refills for free plus 10% of of my next order. It turns out that they have only been trading for a week and still have teething troubles. After that I am clearly going to have to use them until my death because they were kind to me, I could never reject them for another company now. WaSp tells me that I am a salespersons dream...
Day 3 and no smoking. I do have the dry and annoying cough that is common when stopping smoking, however as my lungs wake up as the gunk clears.
