Talking of tone, i was in a school hall a couple of months ago, heard the upright piano being played and thought, " What a lovely tone! I wonder if it's a Knight?" And when I went to look, it was!
If I had room for a baby grand, (and the cash!), I'd have a Broadwood. Do you know, they're still made in Britain!(I just lurve spiders!)

Its not what I'll be getting but....my dream piano, the only big name piano I actually fell in love with is a fazioli, I played it in a private house and was just in love with it. As soon as I saw it I itched to play for playing sake, and I haven't been like that since I was a teen, the thing was magnetic. Normally I'm a bit weird about 'nice pianos'. Where I learned there were 'very special' pianos and the one in the performance space was meant to be very particularly good and I just didn't love it. It felt 'self important' to me. I like pianos I like not that I should like. Apart from that one.0 -
Is it sad that I can't even play the piano but have always wanted one just because I believe that they look beautiful?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
If I knew that the world would end tomorrow, I would still plant apple trees today - Martin Luther King0 -
Not sad at all, you can still pootle around on it.. One fingered plinking would be about my limit at the moment. Grandma used to use hers to keep her letters under the lid so she didn't lose them so at least it got used, if not in the intended manner..All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Never too late to learn. A few people take up instruments in retirement.0
