I completely relate to your DD, whitewing. When I was little my parents used to dread the children's programme Mary, Mungo and Midge which was on quite a lot. At the end of the episode Midge the mouse would wave goodbye and without fail I would cry my eyes out, I still remember how sad I felt. Then there was the jelly baby inicident where my dad thought I would like to try them. Nope, not me instead I burst into tears that I was meant to eat them and ended up keeping them in a box individually lying on a layer of cotton wool until my parents could smuggle them out. I STILL cannot eat animal shaped biscuits, chocolate or sweets, the guilt and sadness is far too much and I never buy jelly babies.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I have just remembered that while psychotic the other night I did an Approved Food order. There are some very interesting things on there that are making me scratch my head. Why did WaSp say it was fine and let me press buy?! Erm, what exactly does one do with raspberry onion jam?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Erm, could you use it as a glaze for something? There was a guy on come dine with me the other day who did chicken stuffed with marmalade! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hello, MU! I have never heard of it either! I ordered so many weird things, there is some kind of Indonesian curry(?) paste too. Our meals are going to be somewhat interesting for the next month, I am blaming WaSp! He said it was fine! It isn't fine, totally hilarious but not fine! There is also enough chocolate to feed a small primary school...
The only recipe I can find involving raspberry onion jam is a traditional Amish burger. As for the Nasi Goreng paste it is apparently the flavouring to a rice dish. On to Sambal Tumis paste now. I think I must have been thinking of cooking a curry at some point and went a bit OTT. Amritsari Chole...nope, I've got nothing. What have I done? It is a good thing that everything is ridiculously cheap.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Hehe i did some silly things at work today! First i dropped a slice of pizza, tried to catch it and ended up kicking it onto the shop floor much to the bemusement of customers! Then my manager told me to clean the bin, which i took literally and cleaned the actual bun, my manager was in hysterics at the sight of me with gloves on and the bin full of washing up liquid, she only meant for me to clean the bin AREA. Then as we were taking rubbish away i managed to drop a whole bag of rubbish! And ended up with rubber gloves picking up pieces of discarded salad! What a day! I did have to laugh though :rotfl:

Hahahahaha! Oops! one of those days for sure. Cleaning a bin is totally above and beyond the call of duty.
I think I have worked out what I did. Other than the chocolate mountain and the gingerbread men mix I seem to have bought as many items that were in clearance (really cheap) as possible, I presume that I was thinking of saving money. This would be very MSE if I had any idea what to do with what I bought...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I might have done that given the chance, I like candles! Right now I am just grateful that I used a discounted food site and didn't think that a supermarket shop was a good idea, that could have been very bad. By the looks of it we are eating various exotic curries for the next month, or I could just live off of the chocolate...
I used to go on buying sprees, too and find myself unable to stop, I would get really anxious if I didn't keep buying things and an excited high when I did. It calmed down a lot once my anti-psychotics were increased. What was that my psychiatrist said about Bipolar?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I googled Amritsari Chole and it seems to be a chickpea curry from North India. Sambal Tumis is a fried chilli paste used as a condiment or as a base sauce for stir frying.
The use of the term 'jam' for savoury stuff is quite amusing, a bit like 'jus'! I think if you substitute 'chutney' for 'jam' it would be what it is!
I would imagine raspberry onion 'chutney' would be nice with cheese?
A couple of months ago, I was looking for some flavourings and came home with half a dozen weird jars from the supermarket. Needless to say, they're all unopened! The problem is that once opened, you keep them in the fridge and have to eat them within a relatively short time, so unlike something like mustard that seems to last forever, I suspect a lot of it would be wasted. At least there are two of you, WaS, so easier to eat up!
messedup, when I read your thing about the bin, I could see nothing wrong with you cleaning the bin itself! The problem is her communication! Bin area is a bit different from bin! She should have said what she meant!
And keep those candles! If we have a power cut, you'll be laughing!
I've got two "emergency" boxes, filled with things like candles, batteries for torches and portable radio ( for news about the powercut - no TV remember!). A corded phone (cordless phones don't work without electricity, and the mobile charge won't last forever!), a small camping stove and gas canisters, and even two small portable heaters that run off gas canisters. Because I live alone, things like power cuts can be very isolating and a bit scary, at least initially, until the 'wartime spirit' kicks in!, so having these emergency boxes makes me feel better!
Sob! Talking about the 5 little ducks reminds me of a song my dad used to sing when I was very small, about a 'robin, walking to Missouri, with a tear in his eye'. It always made me sob uncontrollably, and even now, just writing that is making me feel bad!
happy thoughts! Happy thoughts!(I just lurve spiders!)
