A primary school worth of chocolate?
And the problem with that is what exactly?

Was, if you do get stuck for ideas for using things up, the people in the old style bit of the forum are very helpful and don't bite.
I've never used approved foods. Do you have to do big orders to make it worth while?

    Pops up and :hello:

I love sweet chutney type things with Pate so perhaps the Raspberry Onion Jam would go with that, or as Pyxis said Cheese. You could do something like a Ploughmans.
  • I meant to say - I'm away playing music this weekend.

I have Amritsar Chole as well! It's delicious - just serve with rice! As Pyxis says, it's a chickpea curry. You could try some raspberry onion stuff with it, like mango chutney....

Sorry, won't be around much! x

Have fun, JM! Thank you for the reassurance about the chickpea curry!

I do quite like jars of mystery things, Pyxis so I would probably enjoy your little haul. I am one of these people who gets bored with food very quickly and then can't face it at all so I really try to vary my food with herbs and spices. Right now I can't eat bread, I was having toast every morning for a while and now the thought of it makes me shudder. It will wear off over a month or so but I really do have to keep my food interesting. Having said I eat almost anything, I have no real dislikes which is handy.

Hello elsien! How are you and Gitdog? Approved Food do have high postage, £5.25, but that gives you an enormous weight allowance and there is a lot of jarred and tinned food. They also sell a lot of cases of food and drinks so you can really stock up on those for the weight. Also random things like a 2500gm tin of Peas! I save quite a lot of money by using them plus it gives us a chance to try some branded and unusual foods instead of Value/Smartprice which we normally buy. I never spend more than £30 a shop, including postage and it gives me an awful lot of items.

The onion raspberry jam (chutney) does sound like it would possibly be nice with ploughmans. I hope it is because I seem to have bought 4 jars! (4 for £1). Thank you for the suggestion, aneres!

Also, 4 packets of chocolate brownies, 12 in a packet? Really, WaS? I clearly crave sugar during episodes...

It turned out WaSp was being sneaky by saying the order was fine, incidentally! He noticed that I had put two jars of chilli liquorice on there (which i would never normally buy) and he loves the stuff so said it was ok in case I edited it! Sneaky! He admitted it this morning while giggling a lot.

I woke up only slightly hearing the voices mumbling and feeling totally real. Most people would be glad of this, I just get suspicious and suspect something is about to creep up on me. As we have a surveyor here Monday I did firmly tell myself yesterday that I simply wasn't allowed any psychosis until after then, perhaps it worked.

I am now cleaning for the surveyor, or was. For cleaning read standing in the centre of the room and holding an object with a confused expression and then shoving it behind another object and hoping that it can't be seen. I have just been told to sit down because I am making it worse (I am). WaSp and I also have different cleaning techniques. I am a hide as much as possible person (if I had a spare room I would throw everything in there) and he will put a paper away in a drawer and then notice things that shouldn't be in there so sort through the whole drawer before he does anything else. He says he is thorough, I sit and cringe because he could have tidied a room in the time it took him to clean one drawer that no one knows is there but us anyway. Neither of us are right or wrong. I shall supervise from the sofa.

Onion raspberry jam also sounds like it could be could with fancy sausages, like venison or duck, mixed in to a jus or gravy and served with celeriac or lentils.

Or made into tarts/ quiches with goats cheese ( mmmmm) and maybe fennel if you like fennel, or perhaps an em mental* type cheese.

I've also made raspberry chicken dishes before, so I'd be considering that, used as a paste for a one pot meal perhaps.

*. Emmenthal. ' Lir ism' sorry.
  • And I have the jars of Lebanese paste, as well! I just used them as a relish and stirred them into rice with a curry, so far. They look a) versatile and b) as if they will last for ages, though, so no panic. My Approved Food taste is obviously the same as yours is when you're psychotic (I also considered the chilli liquorice, but decided against). :D

  • Oooh, good ideas, LIR! I like the idea of goats cheese quiche, quiche is one of my favourite things. I like celeriac too and WaSp loves it.

I am so glad you have the same food, JM! I do tend to buy a few things every order that I wouldn't normally buy because I like trying new things, this time the whole list seems to be new things! There are going to be a lot of various types of curries eaten here!

Curry is my favourite thing! I bought 2 Amritsar Chole and 2 other things in the same packaging - have only tried the AC so far. They are in my desk for easy lunch at work!

Did you order any marshmallows? They are ABSOLUTELY ENORMOUS! (And delicious! )

ps once upon a time I was cooking at the place I come to for music making. To my horror there was no oil to make a salad dressing. I did, however, have loads of strawberries. Anyone fancy salad dressing made with strawberries and mustard? It was delicious!
