I've got a medlar! It's only small, only had it about 4years, but it fruits nicely.
At the same time as the medlar, I also got a mulberry, but it's never fruited.
I got a small rowan too. Apparently, you can eat rowan berries, but I've not tried that.
I've got quite a few trees growing in large pots, so I can keep them small - I call them giant bonsais! I've got oaks, hazel, chestnut, rowan, mulberry and medlar. Have to keep them in pots as my garden is small.
However, I have espaliered an apple tree, and have a small beech and a 'pompom' holly, which are slow growing so I can keep them under control. The only pot tree I planted out was a silver birch, and I keep pollarding it, to keep it a manageable size.
Last but not least, a honey locust, which gives a lovely splash of 'sunshine' with its yellow leaves in the spring.
You'll have to be my go to person for medlar advice!
We have mulberry, they take about ten years to fruit. My family plant one every where we live, kind of a ritual. But fir and I sometimes pick them where his mother is ( penguin?) scattered, but it doesn't feel like a penguin. If we go its on / around her birthday and its a fun day.
I love trees, we're planting lots, but sadly trees are very expensive.
We have been buying in pots for a while and planted this year: a pink pseudo acacia, a foxglove tree, a holm oak, a maple, two gingkos, two hollies, an Indian bean tree, a cider gum and a snow gum,um, not sure what else. Oh, another quince ( I have a third coming this aunt un, but then I am stopping) two more apples, ( I wouldn't have chosen these though, they were gifts.
The biggest pot got a forest pansy in it because we haven't decided where it should go.
I just love planting trees. The pink pseudo acacia/robinia has done best I think. It looks like its been there three years!
My pears are espaliers, with roses clambering behind ( and through in summer). Its the first training like this I've done. Its very amateurish, but I like it.0 -

Oh dear, haven't slept at all
really need to pick up my meds ASAP as that will be why I've not slept (my mood stabiliser helps me sleep). Was going to try and power nap but needed to be up earlish as I'm going back to see my family today and need to go to the post office and shower before I go. Hopefully having a busy day will help me sleep tonight
All this talk of plants is making me jealous, I'm terrible with the poor thingsthey never seem to survive long when I'm in charge of them. I did once grow a 4ft sunflower though

How to post a pic from your computer
Upload it to somewhere like photobucket, make sure your account at photobucket doesn't have your real name as your username or in the email address. Press the box with the 'share link' in it, press the little postcard in here, share.
How to post a pic from facebook. (I assume yr FB account is private)
Take a screenshot by pressing cntrl and printscreen on most computers. Open paint programme and paste this in. Press crop, highlight/circle the picture, press crop again. Save the file. (Cropping is quite fiddly, sorry!)
Then upload this file from yr computer as above.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

I know just how you feel, I often have nights where I don't sleep at all.
I hope you have a nice day with your family.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Have a lovely day with your family. And a big thank you for inspiring me to get off my butt and go for a run.
This morning was interesting. Trainers? Oh blast, they went when I decluttered. Joggers? Oh blast, they went when I decluttered. Shorts? Too short!
OMG 60 seconds is a long time. Oh, that's because I missed the voice telling me to stop and it's nearer 3 minutes. That hill wasn't there yesterday. Goodness, I didn't know I'd got enough to bounce.
In all honesty I don't know how long I'll persevere. If I have to get a full time job its not going to be doable with travel and Gitdog. But for now, it's a start.

Thanks dibuzz too, am looking forward to seeing the family, will probably be the last time I get to see everyone before we are reunited at XmasThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good evening all!
WaSp rebooked my eye appointment so I am waiting to find out when the new one is. I still have the psychiatrist on Friday so excuse me if I start to panic. Not about seeing him, he is lovely but the whole getting there thing. Blanket time!
Other than that I am still coughing and sneezing everywhere but otherwise ok. My ears keep becoming muffled and then popping which is rather annoying.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I've been baking!
And I have a challenge for you, WaS, if you fancy it the next time you feel like baking (when WaSP is home!) - because I know you are a fellow Approved Foods fan.
At the moment they have 'de-identified gingerbread men mix' for sale. I paid 50p a packet for 2 packs, and they are .... well, I'd better not say who they are made by, but it's got an M & an S in it
I made the most incredible mess of it. You are supposed to mix the dry mix included with some butter (which I managed) and then stir in the golden syrup (which I forgot) and then roll it out (they don't tell you, but you will need some flour to roll it out on I think. Obviously I'm not 100% sure how vital the flour is as I forgot the syrup so mine was very messy.
What you are supposed to do
Mix dry mix with butter
Add syrup
Roll out and use the cutter they provide to make little men
Bake
Cool
Decorate with stuff provided - you're supposed to dilute the contents of a long thin tube thing with water.
What I did
Mix dry mix with butter
Roll out and realise it's incredibly sticky
Look in box for the cutter they provide to make little men
Find a sachet of golden syrup
Scrape the dough off the worksurface and mix the syrup in
Roll it out again
Bake
Cool
Decide the stuff provided is probably thin enough not to need diluting
Start squirting the stuff provided and realise it's icing sugar (which is now all over the kitchen) not icing
Dilute the stuff provided like I should have done in the first place
Decorate 2 men for MrJM, but decide I might as well just dip the (rather malformed, some of them) men into the icing.
Eat the lot with the help of MrJM.
I can recommend making the men as a lot of fun - and you will have 2 gingerbread men cutters left after you've eaten them all!!!
Just seen yr post, WaS - good luck for Friday!
And WELL DONE, elsien!

We're here WaS.
I have hospital Next week. New hospital, new consultant. I am not scared of going out but I am iatrophobic ( I didn't used to be) so I get a bit edgy. Procedures are fine, but ip dislike consultations a lot.
For me being prepped helps a lot. I like to know I'm wearing good underwear ( you never know when they'll strip you down, even ones who want to see your eyes might suddenly want to see you in your knickers)
And I like to take a packed overnight bag nowadays, just in case they suddenly keep me in, though I am positive this will not happen with this guy, its been a risk a few times recently and fir and I have sweet talked them out of it, but I feel better if I have my own toiletries, nightclothes ( actually they are new and it have only worn them once or twice to check they are comfortable) and more knickers!
I'll have my clothes ready soon, so I haven't got the drama I had last time when I couldn't find my best slip ( I know where it is this time).
Isn't it silly to make such a fuss for a short chat about how Well or not one is feeling?0
