Actually I think there was a bit of cross-wiring, as the penguin wasn't so much a religious one as a life after death one, so I can sort of understand. How about this for wording?
- This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.
- People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.
- The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!
-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN (in red) and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.
- If you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green big which follows.
I would like to discuss something to do with [insert subject here], but I am concerned that this might be a trigger for some people. Is everyone OK if I post about that? Then LEAVE IT for at least an hour to allow people to respond. Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.
IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-
Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.
We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I can totally see where you are coming from and would ordinarily agree but my concern is that despite WaS having made it perfectly clear on a number of occasions that religion is trigger it has still made an appearance again today- that is not acceptable and therefore I am not sure a friendly please avoid this would do the trick. Just my opinion though. But I for one am very uncomfortable that this has occurred again.
Ok. How about this:-

Looks good to me, JM! One question, how do you post in red? Site lesson, please!
Can I also add that please can people be careful when quoting and not quote anything to do with the penguined subject? That also allows people to edit their post at a later date if they feel that have revealed too much and feel uncomfortable without it being seen elsewhere on the thread.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I like your instructions much better than mine, Pyxis, so have amended. (or at least, I'm about to). But then would you repost the rules in your style (I think you are the person who normally does it?) at the next convenient time?

Hi all, lurker pops in with a suggestion re penguins.
As a reader of the thread, it is very hard not to read what is on the screen in front of you, putting the word penguin in red will help but it wont stop people seeing the words in between.
I suggest sensitive paragraphs are written in white so people wont see it unless they want to, if they want to read it they can highlight the words so they can be seen (see below, highlight between the smiles)words typed in white
To change the text to white, type in quick reply and click on go advanced (or click the post reply button), at the top there is an option to change the text colour, highlight the text you want to hide and pick white (I am sure someone can explain this a lot better than me).0 -
