Penguins everywhere! This is another penguin reply but not quite so penguiny as the last one.

My therapist said exactly the same thing when I told her, whitewing. That anyone who was being abused would have had the same momentary thoughts and that it was natural. I never once hesitated to help her but it did flash through my mind everytime.

The reason you state about meeting your mother is one of the reasons why religion is such a trigger for me. I am agnostic now but the part of me that believes in an afterlife has visions of me of ending up in Hell or meeting my family who all turn on me, hate me and reject me. I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes the thought of life after death is far more scary to me than there being nothing.

I won't say more about that as religion is a huge trigger for me but yes, I understand.

OK, now the penguins are off to a party, and to sit on CBP. Can we agree no more penguin questions or religion today? :)

  • We can, JM. I actually own 2 baby penguins. They were given away with a washing powder years ago so I bought a huge box to get one. Then WaSp being as soppy as I am was queueing to pay for shopping and noticed someone had discarded another box by the till with another free penguin. He couldn't leave the penguin there on its own so bought that too so my penguin has a friend and the washing powder lasted for ages. Told you he is as bad as me...

LOLOL I thought you meant real ones for a moment. I was trying to imagine the infrastructure or explanation (sponsored at a zoo, maybe? Property in another country?) that would explain it.......

(I am also having a lovely mental picture of penguins, including CBP, having a tea party now we have sent them away :D)

Funnily enough, so am I! With tiny cups and saucers and little pieces of cake!

I did sponsor an anteater at the zoo once! I keep meaning to sponsor another animal when I eventually have the funds. I also really need to make a contribution to a tiny charity that helped me when my cat was first diagnosed with kidney failure. They are a very unknown and small charity who I found on Google but they offered to pay all of her initial vet bills (£600) even though I had only asked for £100 towards it. I was very distraught when I emailed them and explained how I had raised her from 4 weeks old and how she helped me cope with my mental health problems, I babbled at them basically. The lovely man I spoke to said our story had really touched his heart and thanks to him I had another year with my cat. My vets were amazed when he contacted them for payment details because they had never known a charity pay out so much. I always promised him that when I had the money I would replace what they had given me.

Oh, I love that! I used to have birthday parties for my hamsters! I learnt how to make cakes out of oats and vegetables and they loved them. Plus they would get a tiny roast dinner every birthday, a lot of people don't realise that hamsters love meat, they are actually omnivores. So they would have a tiny piece of chicken, yorkshire pudding, roast potato and vegetables followed by cake over the course of a day and eat it all! There are a lot of human foods that hamsters can't eat but also a surprising amount of our food which they love. George loved rice pudding and toast with honey as an occasional treat. Amusingly, he wasn't fond of vegetables so I would hide them in stodgier food. He lived for 28 months though which is ancient for a hamster so he knew what he needed.

I don't remember those at all! Were they soft toys or ceramic ornaments?

Penguin tea party! :rotfl: I expect they have (Ant)arctic Roll, ice cream, glacier mints and those snowball cakes. And chocolate flakes. Oh and, of course, fish cakes! And possibly 'bergers'! :rotfl:

Hahahaha, you do make me laugh, Pyxis! Funnily enough hamsters love ham, of course they do!

I don't remember which washing powder they were with now. They are a soft toy based on the penguin from Happyfeet and you can turn them inside out so that they turn into an egg! I also have a PG Tips monkey and an Andrex puppy! (Yes, my flat looks like a toy shop)
