it's a slippery slope into another clutter starter don't buy them unless you will burn them they are not supposed to be decorative!
Loving the sound of your Moms cake for your brother. How lovely to be able to share your interests.
WaS am I right in thinking that there is no way to change the status quo because no one wants to upset your Mil? Your partner is the only one who could do it but it would not be pleasant and he would have to deal with the fall out. Is he strong enough to do that or more likely not to rock the boat on the hope (I don't mean to sound mercenary) that it will not continue for a long time?0 -
For multiple quotes you click on the little balloon icon next to the 'quote' button. Do that for the posts you want to quote, and then press the 'post reply' button.
I've found I can't do more than three quotes at a time, don't know why!
With all these things on WaS's cake, it's going to have to be HUGE!(I just lurve spiders!)

Yes, none of us want to upset her at all. She has a lot of anxiety issues as well which makes it even harder. My partner is going to sound like a wimp here but he really loves his mum so if anyone changes things it would be me by insisting to social services that something needs to be done and that my BIL isn't supporting her. I have held off so far but if she becomes more unwell which is possible as she has a lot of age related illnesses I may have to do it for her sake. My partners time with her won't be enough, my BIL can't be trusted and it is dangerous for me to be left for any length of time due to psychosis.
Life hasn't forced my hand yet but it might and frankly it would be a lot easier for partner to place the blame on me than take it himself and face the wrath of his family.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Hello everyone! I am back! Lots of catching up with life to do, though, so I can't post at length, although love/hugs/warm handshakes to all, including lurkers.
Multi-quoting - I found this out by experimenting. Press the " box on each post you want to quote from. At the end, press the quote box and all the posts will come out in a list. The WHOLE post is quoted, so you have to delete the bits you don't want, or copy the whole post and then delete the various bits if you want to reply to various aspects of the post.
Posting pix - as oldestgnome said, upload to a picture sharing site like photobucket. Once you've uploaded, they make it very easy to share your photos - just press the 'share' button, basically, and it will copy the address into your computer's memory, then you can paste that address into the image button here (the one with a little mountain in it). Hint - when you sign up to these sites, use an anonymous email address without your name in it, as people can see the photobucket address if they list the properties of your picture.Ex board guide. It's a difficult thing to do, I am glad that you have thought about it and know that if you had to you would. It would definitely be easier for your partner and would be safer for both you and MIL0 -
Hello JM, good to see you back. How was your music making and gris gris games?0
-
glis glis! Well, we were supposed to have tails and I couldn't think what to do, so in the end we each carried a book, so that we had plenty of tales.......
We play our music in a barn where it is common for glis glis to run across the rafters. Occasionally (once or twice a year) one of them loses its footing and falls into the orchestra. No glis or players have been hurt, so far! So our 'dressage' presentation involved simultaneous orchestral disruption, where we all walked along a beam (about 2" high) and fell off. Not exactly sophisticated entertainment, but great fun.
The winning team was comprised mostly of small children, all dressed in the most fab chicken costumes improvised on the day - yellow rubber gloves for feet, beaks made of yellow card and dark glasses. Their performance included a 'cluckenspiel' where they all squeaked the Blue Danube when hit over the head with an inflatable hammer. As I said, sophisticated stuff......
The music was great, discovered lots of new works! Dukas Symphony, and bizarrely The Fall of Komorov turned out to be very moving. And I now have earworms from Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances....Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Hay bel, there used to be an amazing cake shop in Somerset, they supplied cakes to Harvey Nichols too. The decoration was outstanding, really very pretty, every thing from painted flowers to fairy tale castles, and the cake was yummy too. Although cakes are more adventurous now I've not seen any thing as lovely since they closed down. I think they restarted then closed a second time, not sure . Would love to know though.0
