I think it is no coincidence that I have hardly any period pain on my old antidepressants. I haven't had a period yet solely on my new ones. I said that to a mh nurse but apparently no one else had ever said the same (and she'd been a nurse for years). I do think potentially that a lot of questions aren't asked of people with mh issues. I guess though if you're suicidal, it doesn't help to have someone going on about the blob too.
Hmm, its interesting, I do, but it seems, perhaps less. I have had such a big dosage change of other meds at the same its difficult to say what's what though, and the weather too.....also, I gained some weight. Losing weight , though I need to, always makes a lot of pain for me when I come to menstruation that cycle.0 -

Well, a lot of anti-depressants also have a muscle-relaxing effect, and are actually prescribed for some musculoskeletal conditions. It may also have that effect on uterine muscle, although that is smooth muscle which is different from skeletal muscle.(I just lurve spiders!)

Good afternoon all! And a special hello to carrielovesfanta who I met on one of the rare times that I left the safety of this thread. I have been thinking of you and your husband and hoping that you are both managing to cope. Do feel free to post here if it helps at all, everyone here is lovely (<points> well, they're all lovely, I'm just ok).
I admit I don't drink enough water, what's worse is I mostly live off of coffee and tea. I did try to drink water but I live in a very hard water area and I can actually taste the chlorine. Unfortunately my budget doesn't reach to bottled. But now I have said that I will make an effort to drink more, I have a jug next to me right now.
I found the anti-psychotics made my period pain better as does the contraceptive pill. Despite this it still wakes me up at night. I have always had very bad periods, to the extent that I was offered a hysterectomy at 24 because is was pushing me into depression psychosis every month. Back then it was thought that it was severely influencing my mental health and I doubt that has changed. My psychosis is definitely worse at certain times of the month but although menopause might be helpful for that my Endocrinologist suggested I go straight onto HRT as things could get a lot worse physically and mentally if I don't.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Tip for tap water!
Draw a jug and leave it...the nasty tasting stuff evaporates! Its incredible.
I have a fussy palate for water too WaS. ( sometimes it seems we have lots of little things in common!) and kicking my bottled water habit was very hard, I can often ID the type of bottled water I'm drinking, lol, ( I have favourites for different moods:o) but drawing water and leaving it really does work very, very well... I also like some tap waters particularly, fwiw. I'm always a bit snooty when people say there is no difference. They are all healthy, but they do taste a little different to fuss pots.
So, if you have two jugs, draw two ( remember jugs can be Pyrex measuring jugs, mixing bowls with spouts, what ever you have that will pour, and while you work through the first the other can be evaporating, and if you like it chilled, it can be in the fridge cooling.

Hi WaS, hope you're feeling better today? I'm done with the cycle thanks to the chemo. Although for me it was a walk in the park compared to the meno! The Oncologist put me on Arimadex & Tamoxifen for 5 years, & they turned me into a raging lunatic! Honestly the things I did & said whilst on that medication  I can be very vocal at the best of times but that really did push me over the edge.
I've been on tap water for years, I'd never pay for it, & of course there's the land fill problem with all the bottles, & danger to little animals .... Soz went off on one there :-/0 -
I have done that right now, LIR! That's a great tip that I never knew! I now have one in the fridge. My partner tells me water is tasteless, to me it's like drinking a swimming pool. The chlorine is unbelievably strong and puts me right off. Water does most definitely have different tastes and I am sticking to that!
Glad all is well now, Duke. I am tired today but have little psychosis. It is lurking but small enough to ignore thankfully. Little animals getting hurt is another very good reason to avoid bottled water! I didn't know that and I am scared to look it up or I might cry.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'm glad you're feeling better WaS, voices have got to be the worst thing in the world! I saw Harry today & his voices are stable, he said that he can hear them very faintly talking about him but only occasionally. He's like a different person.
I know what you mean about the water, when I lived in Wales we had earwigs coming from our taps! Sorry I didn't mean to upset you about the animals.0 -
I am so glad things are better for harry! Finding the right medication can make a huge difference. Unfortunately there are so many with slightly different composites that it can take a while to find the right one.
Earwigs!!!! I'd run a mile. Actually, no. Me being me I would take them outside and worry about them drowning in the pipes. I am like that. You didn't upset me by mentioning the animals, I am just more determined to stick to tap water now which is handy as I am meant to drink 2 Litres of water a day and I would go broke trying to buy the stuff!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

It's ok to drink tea to hydrate yourself if you don't get on with water. The diuretic effect is minimal compared to the amount of liquid going in, so if you can't face water ( which I rarely drink) its better than no liquid at all. Ok, there's a bit of caffeine, but I personally don't see that as a problem. And if I am having problems nodding off, I switch to fruit tea in the evening instead. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Oooh, didn't know that either, elsien. Perhaps I can swap out some of my coffee for tea. That combined with more water might stop me drying out and getting constant kidney infections. I am so immune to caffeine that I can drink coffee right before bed with no effect. I also get thumping headaches if I don't drink caffeine which is very bad but I ignore that.
Another thing that doesn't help with dehydration is that my Addisons Disease means my body retains little salt so I crave it constantly. I can eat a teaspoonful of it on its own like licking a lollipop. Due to my blood pressure I do try to minimise my salt intake but it's difficult and of course dries out my kidneys even more.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
