Oi, you! How about turning that around and feeling CLEVER because you have found a new strategy that helps? Team WaS, or Sir Pugliet's Army, are here to respond!
I love the way this thread does actually work almost 24 hours a day, although it's a bit scary when I'm so short of time and there is so much to catch up on!
So....in case anyone thought they had a firm grip on the real world.....I'm playing silly games this afternoon and have to be a glis glis (google it - this place is infested with them!) We have a team of gg's including a harpist (they are best at glisses) Somehow I have to create 8 tails by 3pm
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Watch out for any Romans! They ate glis glis!
Will you be playing a glissando?(I just lurve spiders!)

On the subject of feeling silly for suffering, I found that when I had CAT. As I got better, I felt ashamed and excruciatingly embarrassed to not have been able to sort it myself. I almost went through of stage of not wanting to be better because it felt like it had trivialised the suffering of all the years. DH was kinder to me than I was though, and that helped.
How are you, dibuzz? Are you feeling okay today?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
WaS, I know you've said that your hormonal cycles affect the psychotic episodes. I did notice that this latest one was about 24/25 days after the last one mentioned on this thread.
Do you log them? As you know, different hormones have different cycles, and it may be possible to pinpoint which combination of hormones, and their relevant levels and interaction states, are implicated.
Has your endocrinologist ever done anything like that?
Another thing which you don't hear much about these days, but which was very popular in the late 70s/early 80s is Biorhythms, and getting the three wave patterns charted to see where your high times and low times will occur. Have you ever done that? It may not be all that scientific, but is quite interesting to do!(I just lurve spiders!)

I've heard of biorythms, but that is the extent of my knowledge. How does one get their biorythms charted and what does it do?

There are some free Apps in the App Store. I haven't looked into which is the best yet.
However, a lot of sources see it as a pseudoscience and not valid. I think it's an interesting exercise to have the chart, and then for, say a month, log how you're feeling emotionally, physically and intellectually each day and then compare it in retrospect with the biorhythm chart and see if it matches up!
It's a bit of fun, really, but it might throw up a few surprises!(I just lurve spiders!)

I don't know biorhythms in the sense of a hippy thing but I do know some 'biological rhythms' quite well.
some endocrinological ones.
There are different ones and they are different at different stages of life, and some of us have mis functioning ones. ( for sleeping problems I find trying to keep a regular 'diurnal rhythm' really helpful and there is some considerable evidence this impacts on health in many respects and longevity too.
Some hormones, like the ones that get us up and going, are meant to be higher in the morning and lower in the afternoon, so they have a 'diurnal rythym' and fighting them can be a little 'unbalancing'. Some cope better than others for functionality.as an undergrad and for my post grad funding application I was interested in one of these for my research. Interestingly, now mine is out of whack.
Many women chart what they called their 'hormones' as in their ovulation and menstrauation, for safe sex/family planning of both types. I think its an interesting idea for all of us with hormonal or health issues. I have to admit I haven't done this for some years, but it am game to, and now would be a good time for me to make a start, so I might well. Sex hormones are interesting, and causes me a few problems, but I like being a woman, so I don't begrudge Them too much. I don't like their malfunction though!
Irregular cycles are a pita. Or, well, elsewhere! Tbh, I'd be surprised if some of the fluctuations didn't have some kind of Impact for most of us who feel otherwise impacted my life or health of a hormonal nature. Hormones are big deals for little guys. Those little fluctuations can make very well women feel grouchy or sad or vulnerable so for those of us already with hormonal or biochemical issues ( or both) or even those of us just feeling down why should they have No impact necessarily? Its possible they won't, as for anyone. But its possible they will, whether its just 'normal' pmt or fluctuation, or a little domino tumbling down.
A friend I have, perfectly well, perfectly happy, with out fail, cries five days before her period. She considers it as normal apart of her cycle as any other part.and she is a vision of health and metal togetherness, apart from about forty five minutes that day.

I think it is no coincidence that I have hardly any period pain on my old antidepressants. I haven't had a period yet solely on my new ones. I said that to a mh nurse but apparently no one else had ever said the same (and she'd been a nurse for years). I do think potentially that a lot of questions aren't asked of people with mh issues. I guess though if you're suicidal, it doesn't help to have someone going on about the blob too.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them.
