  • Just realised I didn't update after my hospital trip last week! I was discharged!!! Still have to visit physio, pain clinic and wait for a vascular referral but surgeons don't need to see me again...but save the happiness... I have a weird lump on the big scar that's red and sore and a bit scabby. I questioned it and was told it was an internal stitch knot and would dissolve. It's absolutely nothing to worry about the posh doctor said...and last night I poked it (whilst DH and I were saying perhaps to get it checked) out came a rather large amount of pus (bleurgh :( ) FIVE days after the all clear.

It hurts but I'm mostly annoyed from a DFW position - I thought I was finally off prescription meds and would save some money! Cleaned and dressed it with iodine gauze last night and I'm back to doc today, probably for ANOTHER prescription and losing work hours :(

I have had that undissolved stitch thing happen to me a few times, one took about 4 months to emerge! Apparently my skin does not like "dissolvable" stitches and my consultant has now marked my notes that they should not be used.

Hope you get on ok at the doctors but the care at the hospital sounds appalling :(

We got our first letter today from MBNA to say that we hasn't made the minimum payment and they want last months and this months payment today. I guess our letter along with the token payment must have crossed paths with theirs but I also may have made the mistake of not sending the letters recorded delivery:(

This particular card is my hubby's (we are doing a joint DMP) so I am going to have to get him to ring up later and explain that our letter should be with them... He hates making phone calls and he's not the best on the phone should be interesting :)

If you can just get your husband on the phone briefly, he can give authority for you to speak on his behalf. Mr TTFTM does it often :D

  • Hi, guess am following a 'typical' path here, well trodden by all newbies to DMP, one where I'm alternately glad I'm doing it then afraid of any hassle. Anyone know if my DMP will affect my son's credit rating? Same address, no shared debts, but would absolutely hate to have his (great) credit rating affected by my debts.

Thank you thats a great idea, would be much easier if i could just speak to his creditors in the future!

Usually he gets frustrated at me mouthing what he should be saying while he is on the phone and i get frustrated that he's not saying what he should be ha ha:)

Hi, if you have no financial association with your son, then no it won't affect his credit rating.

    Evening,

A little unrelated to DMP's... Or is it?

I've just finished watching Bad Grandpa and there is a scene at the end about kids beauty pageants where the prize is $5k!!!

With this kinda cash, I'd soon be able to settle my debts... Now I just need to find a kid...

Thanks to TTFTM and MB for advice earlier.

I rang Stepchange and asked for advice about the Liability Order and how to handle it - they advised me to contact the company dealing with it immediately and to enquire about a separate settlement aside from the DMP as it was such a pressing issue (i.e they were sending the boys round) and my plan wouldn't get going until August. When I rang, the lady on the phone accepted my offer of settling the debt over 2 months and I made the first payment. So, first one down. BIG relief.

I then rang Wonga to advise them that I was in the process of setting up a DMP and they froze my account for 30 days.

I've now been through all of my hidden papers, and filtered out the junk and kept the important bits. I've written a list of everything I need to do over the next couple of weeks, eg changing my direct debit details for household costs, and sending new details to work so my salary is paid into the cash account.

It feels good to not be pretending to myself any more that everything is OK. In so many ways I am in an incredibly privileged position and it's time to stop sabotaging that!
