Well I can't say for sure but in the three years I have been on a DMP and been part of this thread I have never seen anyone have their mortgage affected by a DMP. As long as you keep up all your payments you should be fine.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Good Evening Lovely People,
Just a quick question. I sent a token payment to BOS card via a standing order whilst my DMP was being set up.
I logged into my bank account and they have returned the payment. They have also informed SC that they are not accepting my DMP.

Well, finally hit the button, now awaiting application pack, and set up new bank ac online, applied for basic and they accepted me for three others also. Opted for the one above basic (free) and declined the overdraft option. Hope that is ok. So now mixture of hope, relief and fear.
Catalogues had added a fortune in late fees over the years and I had been reading about the challenges and successes in fighting to reclaim these, which would pay off a large amount of my debts to them. Wondering if I can still try that whilst on DMP.
Apprehensive, reckon I will be a regular as I try to pick my way through this .. Thanks for all posts, have spent ages reading other's experiences.Finally Debt Free (£8k to zero) yay! :j :j

Good evening confused, oops sorry good evening fuzzy! Yes it does seem to be a bit bizarre. I've heard of creditors refusing the DMP but not refusing money. Most even though they don't accept the DMP seem to take the payments and nothing more is said. I can only suggest you call SC and see what they think and then hang on to see what happens next. What you must not do is worry about it, OK? Otherwise we will be forced to send the boys round.
And you wouldn't want these two turning up on your doorstep:DDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Well the majority of our debt is with Barclays (32k) and so is our mortgage, so far so good, although when things came to a head here, the nice woman in Barclays did suggest we re-mortgage and put the 54k (there I mentioned the shocking amount) we owe onto the house, I am so glad I looked at the payments and realised if we did that we would end up losing our home as it would never have been manageable. Not once have they ever mentioned pulling in the mortgage (or the stupid reserve account, which I am slowing paying off too). So fingers crossed everything should be fine.0 -
I think it's worth remembering that the "horror" stories you hear about losing a house and forced bankruptcy are the people who have built up massive arrears and have multiple defaults and CCJs but taken no action. There was a TV programme a few months ago featuring this sort of thing and it spurred multiple threads. However, it was typical press scaremongering. The people featured had serious cases of Ostrich Syndrome and no LBM was forthcoming. You are NOT in this club. And let's be honest, no TV programme is going to show the successful DMPer getting debt free after years of hard work and relearning spending and budgeting habits - it's simply not "good" TV entertainment (the programme was on channel 5 which enforces my point
)
As others have said it's highly unlikely. Look at it from Barclay's point of view. You are paying and up to date. Why cost themselves time, effort and a substantial amount of money if this account is in order? The others won't be running completely according to plan but you are trying and they'll be getting something. I promise you that they have much bigger problems to worry about. You might not be the "model customer" but there are far worse than you - those who won't pay, those who owe hundreds of thousands and all the new people who they keep offering more and more credit to (I got a limit increase after only 3 months!)

Just realised I didn't update after my hospital trip last week! I was discharged!!! Still have to visit physio, pain clinic and wait for a vascular referral but surgeons don't need to see me again...but save the happiness... I have a weird lump on the big scar that's red and sore and a bit scabby. I questioned it and was told it was an internal stitch knot and would dissolve. It's absolutely nothing to worry about the posh doctor said...and last night I poked it (whilst DH and I were saying perhaps to get it checked) out came a rather large amount of pus (bleurgh
) FIVE days after the all clear.
It hurts but I'm mostly annoyed from a DFW position - I thought I was finally off prescription meds and would save some money! Cleaned and dressed it with iodine gauze last night and I'm back to doc today, probably for ANOTHER prescription and losing work hours
For the new people - I broke my leg 14 months ago (doing nothing extravagant or dangerous other than walking barefoot across a flat surface and bending down to stroke a cat...300 miles from home) and it's been a constant issue since. Between my leg and the beautiful but tempremantal car I created a large portion of my debt and had my LBM so it's a little relevant to this thread if nothing more than a warning that you never know what tomorrow brings.
