I also say Join the library, even if they have to order the book in for you, it's only 60 pence

Thank you so much everyone. I was a little worried that I was breaching forum etiquette and spamming you all with my spending habits
. It's nice to know you're all rooting for me though
My 0% card came today. I wasted no time and immediately activated it and did the balance transfers. I transferred £1644.90 from Capital1 and £574.47 from Barclays, plus £66.58 transfer fee and the balance stands at £2,285.95 on 0% for 29 months. I've set up a DD for £78.83 which should clear it before the end of the interest free period.
Then I cancelled down my additional standing orders to NL and DPs and added this to the £39 I'm saving a month from the two CCs minimum payments as well as the argos minimum payment and set up a standing order for £110 to Argos. I have a DD coming out tomorrow for argos but will cancel that after it's come out and stick to the standing order so the payment doesn't vary. I'm hoping that once I've got to grips with my budget, I may be able to increase the amount I pay off a month.
I've updated my debt app which shows I've just knocked a couple of years of the payment term and about £2000 or more in interest
I've also updated my signature.
Thank you for the suggestions about the book - I've found it for £2.81 on Amazon second hand but I've had to email the seller to see if it still has the cd that is meant to come with it. It's a self help book so probably not ideal to borrow from a library as I'll need it for a long time

Another productive day for you:)
you could ask the board moderator to move your whole thread to the diaries section if you feel uncomfortable posting here long-term?LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Well done.
I was also going to suggest you could move this thread to the Diaries one.
As for the book, have you tried http://www.abebooks.co.uk - they're part of Amazon these days, but sometimes you can find books cheaply (or expensively, depending on what you're looking for). Advanced search function will let you search for lowest-to highest, UK only, etc.0 -
well done on shifting the debt, at least at 0% you know that every penny will go on the debt rather than on interest.
Also with all the shifting around of standing orders shows your commitment to snowballing so congrats on that too.

Hi everyone. Not been on for such a long time as my life has changed a lot in the last 12 months. I got a new job with higher earnings and I've met a new BF.
I just thought I would update on the debt situation as I received so much good advice from all the lovely posters here and it has been hugely beneficial. So I started with around £8,000 of debt but I have now reduced this by just over half. Today I cleared my argos card and have cancelled it and immediately applied the money I was putting to that debt to the next one. At the rate I'm going, I should be debt free in around 7-8 months. That's such an amazing feeling!
In all honesty, I could probably have reduced my debt faster but following my very unhappy marriage, I have been enjoying life a little but also reducing my debt. My BF and I are talking of moving in together once I am debt free and we've been provisionally looking at budgets together. I have continued with my business idea which has started making a small profit too. So all in all, things are really good right now!
Thank you once again to everyone. I have all my adult life relied on credit but my attitude to money has changed a lot these last 12 months and I intend never to rely on debt again and instead look towards accruing some savings.Debt free 20160
