I got Southern Electric's price fix just before it closed a few weeks ago. There are others on the site who suggest putting in your usage on comparison sites and getting a quote that way-far more reliable than just putting in the sum paid. Energywatch will send you regular e-mails informing you of price changes-they also have a section where you can look at the complaint ratios of different companies.

Quite honestly I thought I'd been hard done by but the stories on this forum alone are a disgrace-it is almost as if the energy companies have open season on the customer-especially the more vulnerable ones. After all you have no option but to use and buy energy. At the end I just looked at the customer service rating and went with that-although Southern Electric do seem to come out as the cheapest for this area. But by the time I'd paid for 0845 phone calls to SP I was quids out anyway.

It's no use getting a cheap initial quote and then having it wound up to two/three times more down the line

  • I have switched supplier for duel fuel from SP to BG. However I have received an outstanding bill from SP eventhough i am on prepayment scheme and the guy on the phone there said it was my fault coz my meter was on the wrong tarriff...how is that my fault plz? The engineers and such are paid to do their job properly, in this case - they havent and im gettin charged for their mistakes!!!!

    not happy!
  • i've had nothing but problems with scottish power. when i first set up with them a year ago i done so as they had been great when i was my prev flat. but for a year they sent me the wrong bill even tho i checked and double checked with them at the start and as told i as paying the right amont it wasnt till the month i moved that they decided i owed them almost £500 and that they werent to blame. its now been going on for 6 months and i'm now taking my complaint to the ombudsman as scottish power have refused to accept any form of blamed and have only offered me £70 off the bill even tho i've spent more than that in calls to them.
