Any problems with Scottish Power?

We changed to the online tariff a while ago and are now on the energy saver 4 tariff however although I get an email for the meter readings and submit them and get an online bill about a fortnight later someone comes to read the meter, does this happen for everyone, the main reason we swapped to the online tariff was to avoid moving the tv when the meter reader called as it's really awkward, it doesn;t make sense to me why they keep sending the meter readers
Just a query.
If you have to move the TV for the meter reader, why don't you have to move it when you read the meter?0 -
They keep sending the readers to double check on bills being read correctly. I get a meter reading once a year. Its not the first time that people have given false readings.(Not to say you or anyone on this board is) My son accidentily hit the glass of my meter with a hammer and it cracked. I phoned immediately and told them what had happened.Someone came and repaced the glass the next day.I was spot checked for a year to make sure I was not fiddleing them. I used to work for SP and it was amazing what some people got up to.0

We do have to move it, it's just that when he usually calls you can bet that my husband is out and I have to move it myself, it's one of the big entertainment units, not easy when your partly disabled0 -
Do you reckon I can:
Go to Moneysupermarket through the Quidco link, and then onto Scottish Power through the moneysupermarket site?
If I went on to switch this would in theory earn me £20 from Quidco for the Moneysupermarket link, and £30 from Moneysupermarket.
Unless I am talking complete rollocks and it has to be one or the other!
Anyone know?0 -
I can only praise cs. I rang yesterday and got an instant response 10/10
I`ve just been comparing SP prices (per quarter) on the swalec band and gas comes in at 2.990 per kwh for the first 1143 units 2.334 for any more
electric is 15.217 per kwh for the first 225 units then 7.325
That throws the slow cooker concept out of the window. I have really good pans which use the absolute minimum heat to simmer and I think I`ll be doing slow simmer casseroles on my gas hob for a couple of hours from now. Slow cooker is on for at least 6 hours0 -
All sounds fairly positive which is good because I'm mid switch with them for electric!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
% of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%

I moved from Utility Warehouse to Scottish power.
Very very easy transition, 35 quid cashback from https://www.quidco.com, and excellent online bills!0 -

But if you know they come out to read it from time to time, and you know your husband won't be home, why wouldn't you move the entertainment unit. Why would you have an entertainment unit in front of your meter reader in the first place? It's not their fault you chose to put something you can't lift in front of something you probably should keep easy access to.0 -
Have just found a gotcha with Scottish Power. I recently moved house, notified SP of the move, provided final meter readings and as a precaution, cancelled my direct debit (I was well in credit with SP more than enough to cover the final bill). However, this instantly switched my account from the online tarif to the standard tarif and my final bill was higher than it should have been. After a long chat with SP it turns out that I should have really cancelled the DD after I had the final bill to ensure I remained on the online tarif to the end. On the plus side, SP did offer to recalculate the final bill using the online rates. But one to watch out for.0

Scottishpower are sending us insane
We moved in and then changed supplier. They are making it impossible to dump them!!!
We gave the readings and they still haven't sorted out the final readings and sending threatening letters to the occupier
We keep ringing them and they don't listen:mad:
