    Thanks, Polly.

I'm hoping copious amounts of wine will help. At the very least I won't remember it, which is a bonus.

Frankly, in your position, I would be questioning my own relationship - from what you've posted it would seem as if the whole family views you with a large dose of hostility. Do you really want to be dreading every family occasion for the next umpteen years - Christmas, birthdays, christenings, weddings, funerals, etc etc etc?

aileth, does this mean you've gone back to your husband? I thought you'd finally managed to leave him? :(

Yes, we had a break for a couple of weeks, I stayed with my parents. He has definitely turned over a new leaf and is like a new man, finally going to the Doctors for his depression, doing things without me saying, basically being a proper man. He has his dips sometimes if things go bad at work, but I think that's true of everyone.

I know now though that I have the strength to leave should things go back to how they were.

The only issue I have now is the family in law

Forget them and concentrate on you and your relationship.

    Good luck. :)

I really hope things work out for you, and that genuine change is possible and he keeps it up long term. Good luck. X

    Ignore the outlaws.

As someone else has suggested a wooden spoon from the pound shop is a good idea (a wooden spoon has many uses lol).
