    That's desperate, absolutely desperate.

Scottish people say that Scots are racist towards the English. We both wish they weren't but they are. You can spin this all you like but you'll be wrong as a result.

It's a depressing fact a pre-devolution 1990s survey finds a large minority of scots kids racist, while a large majority believed there were racists.

What's the current situation under the new political setup?

They've grown up now living under a devolved government and are old enough to vote. Have they changed their ideas, now they'e a local goevenrment to blame?

Are post-devolution kids as bad? Voting is a popularity contest and somebody's voted in 6 English SNP MSPs of the 64 which seems in proportion to the demographics. The SDL do badly, the BNP do badly, and UKIP do badly.

In fact UKIP got a similar low proportion of the eurovote in Scotland as it did in generally-tolerant London (where despite what some posters here would have you believe) still accepts and welcomes English people on a daily basis.

One issue which has yet to surface is the attitude of the British who find that, in the event of a "Yes", the SNP had destroyed the British Nation to go their own tribal way.

There will certainly be a backlash. The residual UK will certainly defend it's interests with the same disregard for Scotland which the SNP holds for England. The financial sector of Scotland will relocate to England, as millions insist on a British-based bank, as will Insurance companies.Trade may continue because the Scottish currency will certainly not be the pound, but some less valuable coin. So Scottish workers may well get increased wages, but not in Pounds. Even so Scottish goods will need to be a lot cheaper before I would buy them.

I would certainly not be prepared to use the services of companies masquerading as British companies that are actually Scottish and paying tax and employing people there and not the UK (see the thread on Corporation Trax where I try to get the tools place to enable that).

You had me going till the word "certainly". I immediately realised the rest would be pure entertainment, and how right I was!

Thanks for lightening the tone of the thread.:T

You have a macabre sense of fun, zagubov, I don't find anything funny in the SNP trying to con Scots and alienating the English.

    There are several things quoted:

    1. A quarter of English people living in Scotland have experienced discrimination or harassment as a result of their Englishness.
    2. 66% of Scots think Scots are racist towards English people
    3. 25-33% of children expressed a specifically racist attitude towards English people.

If that's reasonable behaviour, I'd hate to think what's unreasonable.

Your citing a selective poll of only 500 people and extrapolating that to the whole country.

I'm a great believer that poll's are just an extremely small opinion and is hugely variable depending on time and location that the poll was taken on.

As an example, If a poll was taken at White Heart Lane after Arsenal gubbed Tottenham 5-2 for the second time in a season in 2012 on the affection towards Arsenal, I'm sure the results would be pretty low.

2/3rds of Scots think English people are racially abused I Scotland. There really isn't any wriggle room here.

By your analysis, can we reflect that Operation Yewtree indicates that England is a breeding ground for Pedophillia?

Touche. I'm glad you got my comparison for you citing that 2/3'ds of Scots are racist toward English.

    It's complete fallacy.

Your poll was of 500 people (IIRC) therefore what you are saying is that 300 out of 5.25 million state they were racist towards English.

    That's 0.005%

Now we can all agree this is still an unacceptable amount, but sadly there is always a minority that is and exception to society.

You're not quite grasping how polls work are you?

On the contrary, I believe I do.
I would never claim that a small representative poll is an exact correlation to the wider population.

Hence why I tried to show where and when the poll is taken can have a huge bearing. i.e. At White Hart Lane after Tottenham lose heavily to Arsenal.

Often polls are taken with this specific outcome in mind to create a newsworthy item.

Generali's ascertation that the people of Scotland are racist is ludicrous and offensive
