How long do transfers out of the 1st account to other current accounts take? I've just opened my 1st account. I transferred £1000 from my Nationwide FlexDirect to it without issue. However when I transferred it back the money still hasn't shown up. I know it says it can take up to two hours but between my Santander/Nationwide/BOS current accounts it's usually instantaneous.
I opened my 1st account last week and did two transfers to my santander account. took the full 2 hours atleast on both transfers.Swagbucks - Apr 14 - Nov 19PayPal £1745 Amazon £2285 John Lewis £170 Mastercard £3800 -
Well it took a bit longer than two hours but the money is now back in my FlexDirect account. Phew!0

Maybe you should adopt a test payment policy in future? Many people, myself included, will always send a £1 first (and save the payee details for future use)...before sending a larger payment.Well it took a bit longer than two hours but the money is now back in my FlexDirect account. Phew!
This has two benefits:
1. The conduit is tested, and
2. With some banks the first payment to a new payee is held up for (up to) 24 hours. Subsequent payments then generally* go through immediately without a hitch.
* Some banks' fraud systems are (retrospectively) sensitive to these £1 test transactions, and will still place a hold on the follow up larger payment. It's been reported on here several times but, thankfully, I've not experienced it.0 -

I usually would do that. I don't know what made me jump in with both feet this time. I won't be doing it again that's for sure!0 -
I've very recently switched my current account to First Direct using the MSE link for a £125 incentive - discovered today that they have only given me £100. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.0

Not impressed with First Direct. Switched to them middle of July. Spoke to a lady on the phone who was sending me transfer forms for an ISA; they haven't arrived. Sent them two messages since requesting same and had two replies saying they were on there way, but they've not arrived as yet. In my emails to them I ask specific questions that seem to go unanswered in preference to some standard blurb. They take four or five days to respond.
In one of their responses they mention their complaints procedure.
I'm rather disappointed with them after reading so many times about how attentive they are to their customers.0 -
