Bunnie- let me know how you get on with swimming. I keep on wanting to go, but it starts so early in the morning!

I just had a look at the pool timetable, looks like there is a free swim from around 3pm-5pm but I have the feeling it will be full of families. I might give it a miss today. I might go for a walk instead.

Just ordered by Race for Life t-shirt! :)

Bunnie- you might have better luck looking for lane swims instead of free swims, so you know that it wont be full of families :)

I am missing the gym today and would love to go. But i know its important to rest my body. Besides, i have been to work today too, and 4 hours of cleaning and hovering works the muscles anyway!

I also need to buy a new water bottle as I cleverly dropped mine on the way home from the gym and it smashed!

For this reason, I have a collapsible one like this

They're a bit cheaper in Boots

I bought my OH something similar from Sports Direct for when he used to cycle to work. I bought this one yesterday: http://www.gelert.com/karrimor-run-bottle-500ml-764195?colcode=76419532

A colleague told me they have two pools - one for exercise/with lanes, and one for fun (with slide!). I might have to go and check it out. I think they also have a gym there too. It's 10 mins walk from my house (according to Google maps) so it might be worth joining there instead, if it means I can use the pool too :)

Today's my second 5k training day. I've got to run 12 mins, break, then another 12 mins!

Edit: Just looked at the leisure centre price list. £42/month! I think not then! £25 more than I pay atm!

Don't push yourself too hard! You have to give yourself a rest at somepoint! If you're not feeling 100% you could just do some swimming/light exercise, don't go too mad!

I may have accidentally made Viennese whirls last night...then ate two...:o

Running around in the mud- that sounds fun! Was it like a bootcamp style thing?

I do LARP :) sadly the exercise benefits are often outweighed by the drinking

Here's an example of some of it:

While I think on, there was a mention before about free weights vs. machines. NEVER try to lift the same level of weight with a free weight if you've only used machines, your tiny stabiliser muscles won't handle it. Start low and work up :)

That looks like great fun, HBS!
I could never imagine being able to lift 15kg free weights, so no worries there, although I do plan to build up to that in the longer term.

So I went to the gym and did:

20 min on bike (10 min warm up, 10 min cardio)
Weights- I spoke to the instructor and he said to increase the weight, not the reps, if I want to challenge myself. So I added an extra 5kg to most of them.
1600m rowing- took about 8 mins.
25 mins on the treadmill- a mix of 5.5 incline @ speed of 6, and 5.5 incline @ speed of 5.5.
    Weights- repeated

Not the best of days at the gym, but at least I went! Not sure of the TOTM normally leaves people feeling this rubbish at the gym, I just feel really sluggish and gross.

Need to do the food shopping tomorrow too. Not going to buy ANY unhealthy food at all, am determined to see a loss on the scale within the next few weeks. I am not weighing on Monday, as I know I wont have lost due to TOTM. So i'll weigh the following Monday instead.
