Have now caught up with the thread completely and want to pass my warm wishes to Roguey. Please don't blame yourself (I know this is easy for an outsider/virtual friend to say). Your mum is responsible for herself not you. All you can do is try and be there for her. Take care. xx
Can anyone recommend a product for strengthening nails. I'm having yet another go at growing mine and not biting them like a 5 yr old

I have been using OPI Nail Envy for years and it's great. I really notice the difference if I dont use it.

OMG Don't know where to start - I was looking for info on Smashbox and came across this post. I have soo many unwanted unopened freebies but hate to throw them away - But I also have spent a fortune on rubbish - that's the problem with beauty and youth its a dream and they play on it!!I have expensive toners that I will never use I was and have tried clearing them but it is such a waste!!

You've definitely come to the right place jeppy, welcome. And welcome Beenie too.

OK so I haven't been that bad whilst I haven't posted as I've been on a real economy drive this month due to overspending on my VISA last month. I have bought a few magazines for the freebies - got the Eyeko liner and the pink Ciate polishes for Emma and the nude Ciate polishes for me.

I've also ordered a couple of things from QVC. Ordered some L'occitane Verbena handwash which is a HG for us. Was good price as the kit included a bottle plus 2 x refills. It was on Advanced Order so won't be sent until 14 July which means I won't get charged till then and we won't need any before then anyway. Have just opened a new eco refill (the last one) and these last ages. Also ordered a full sized Laura Geller Bronze & Brighten as I've been waiting for them to restock these. Have gone for the fair option but still not sure whether to keep it. It gives my skin a glow but no colour. Am a bit worried if I go for the medium though that it will give my face too much colour and am not sure I can be faffed with ordering another one anyway.

So my UUs since I last posted:-

LE C&P - last full sized of the original. I have the Limited Edition on the go at the moment and think I prefer the last Limited Edition one more. Won't buy again. Will go back to the original one. Am hoping that this 150ml will keep us going until our hols on 9 August as I'm planning to take the three 30ml tubes with us for our hols.

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm - glad these are all gone really. Would use if in another kit but wouldn't seek out to buy on independently.

Burts Bees hand salve - awful awful greasy stuff. Of all the items I've used from the brand the only one I've liked is the lip shimmer.

Avon Argan oil - this was nice. Have too many hair styling product at the mo though to want to repurchase just yet. Because of my "economy drive" I also cancelled my last hair appointment. Thankfully I have one this Friday and can't wait as my roots are shocking.

    Aussie conditioner
    Aussie shampoo
    Naked conditioner

I now have one bottle of shampoo and one in stash and am on my last tube of conditioner.

    Loccitane verbena hand wash
    OS raspberry hand wash

As mentioned above have some more L'occitane hand wash on its way.

Porridge soap - do love this. Have a tube of Scrub of your Life to open though so not looking to repurchase anytime soon.

Sure deodorant - am never fussy about which deodorant I use atlhough always use roll ons. Am using a Dove one now.

Am also online at the mo researching gel nail polish kits. Anyone have any recommendations re: this. So far I've only looked at the Red Carpet one.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I've got the Sensationail kit from Boots.
I do like it, it works well and does what it says. The only problem I have is the difficulty I seem to have getting gel nail polish off! But the actual kit itself is good and you couldn't want for much more.
I haven't got many colours but i've been told you can get some nice ones for a lot cheaper on Amazon, different brand but still work the same.

    Hope that helps Valm x

Rougey very sorry to hear of your anguish and the horrible situation. I have a very similar parent and agree its a big shock to see a situation that builds over a long time from an outside perspective when you've become conditioned to it to a certain extent and can maybe fool yourself it's not as bad as that which you worry it actually is. Really feel for you.

Hi all, I've been off thread since end of May! Just got round to catching up on all 22 pages of this months. I can't remember names and currently typing on my phone but sorry to hear of the lady who's OH grandma passed away, the lady who got burgled and rougey's poor mum. Keep strong everyone. I myself have been off so long as in may, myself and other housemates found one of our housemates dead in his room. Still unsure of the cause, police are looking into it. Have now finished uni and moved back in with parents and just been looking after myself and getting everything sorted for starting my second degree in September, very excited :) not had any ins that I can recall and too many UU's to remember! Will be restarting my totals next month. On the upside myself and OH have bought a fancy fish tank and have begun establishing it ready for our first fish next week, and I'm starting back at my summer job this week and will be topping up my sorry-looking savings account :D much love xxxx

Despite valiant efforts I think I'm going to finish June with a small increase to the stash, only due to gifted birthday IN however so not too bad. I'm one behind at the min and can't think of anything that's really spluttering as yet.

    Recent UU:
Bomb Cosmetics Hot Sensation soap - got through it very quickly considering it was a chunky bar, I find I'm the same with a lot of the Lush soaps too. Not sure why it's called what it is or what fragrance etc it was meant to be but nice enough all the same!
Bomb Cosmetics Fantasy Island bath blaster - definitely style over substance for me this one - looked lovely in its packaging but was very underwhelming in use, turned the water a nasty bright caustic yellow, no discernible scent or benefit and the decorative bits of berries and ginger were a pain to fish out!! WNBA
Aromatherapy Associates triple Rose cleanser - nice enough but nothing standout and I'm not usually a big fan of Rose scented products, probably WNBA unless it was on mega offer of course!
S & G Clean on Me - was kind of dreading using this but it was a more pleasant experience than I remembered, I clearly just got thoroughly sick of it in the past, was glad this was only a travel bottle all the same. WNBA
Tresemme Freeze Hold hairspray - HG, already replaced, great hold that brushes out without any residue
L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protection spray - HG, another in the stash

    IN:
L'Oreal Preference Conditioner - comes with hair colour which is an absolute necessity!!
Tresemme Freeze Hold hairspray - straight replacement for UU

My beloved Benefit Boi-ing is down to absolute last scrapings now - can't really justify the price tag at the min and there's nothing going on eBay thats the right shade at a decent price so plumped to try a new S & G offering instead, blur and brighten crayon at £6 a third of the price and the consistency seems similar, I don't like liquid concealers IYKWIM. Hoping I'm going to like this one for covering under eye circles.

Got some things on eBay at the min in the way of Elemis and some makeup bits, bids on most items so fingers crossed I make a few pennies that way as trying to save at the min for various things that are coming up like MOT, car tax, insurance, birthdays etc etc and hoping to maybe go away in Oct fingers crossed. Should help me challenge wise too, only thing I can think I'm going to need shortly is some no oil oil, my hair is so unruly without it!!

Thank you city_girl. My brain is stewed from looking at the different kits. I found a great article which basically said to avoid the ones containing cleansers and removers as alcohol wipes and acetone can be used instead. Have found a decent lamp on Amazon. Emma now fancies the Harmony Gelish products as we have both had gel manicure/pedicures with those before and liked them.

If you search Red Carpet Manicure on QVC there is a pdf document that shows you how to remove gel polish. HTH. x

  • I resisted buying sunscreen today. I wanted one of the Aldi air dry ones but I have 3 full size body sunscreens in my stash and they have limited shelf life so must use those first.

Thanks everyone, was having a real wobble moment last night. In a slightly better frame of mind today after having had a long sleep.

I'm having a bit of a clear out so have three UU to report:

Nivea cashmere moments cream oil 250ml - this was fine, nothing special, picked it up for about £1 in my Xmas refund mistake. WMBA
Molton Brown eucalyptus body wash 30ml a little MB freebie, I used it as a bubble bath yesterday. Lovely smell and eucalyptus was just what I needed, WMB.
Collection illuminating touch brightening concealer - this was ok but too yellow for me, replaced with my HG No7 illuminating concealer, so have chucked this one.

Final UU: Tresemme moisture rich shampoo 1300ml. You're not reading that size wrong, bought this and the conditioner for about £8 in costco last September and have been using ever since. It was fine, but I definitely want to get back to my volumising products once the conditioner is UU. Have replaced with the Alberto Balsam apple cheap I declared earlier this month.

Stash list is under 360, we're moving in the right direction.

ETA I forgot one more - MiaRoma grape seed oil 118ml. Used the dregs of this, mixed with eucalyptus and rosemary essential oil after my eucalyptus bath yesterday but just couldn't get enough of the smell from it. Ended up mixing the rest of the oil with some epsom salts for a eucalyptus and rosemary hm bath salt blend.
  • Hi folks, did a wee search for a thread like this so glad I found you. Please can I join you all?

I finally did an inventory of my bathroom today and I am shocked at how much stuff I have. I will type up the inventory tomorrow.

I still haven't caught up with the thread but will head back to read over it shortly. Rougey I am so sorry to hear about your mum. I hope things get sorted out and that she is improving in health.

Crikey! So sorry roguey about your mum and nillionaire, that must have been a horrible time for you and your fellow housemates. Sending love to you both xx

And before I forget, welcome newbies!

I've said it before but I'll say it again, you ladies really are the loveliest bunch :grouphug: I think the amount of troubles which are shared on this thread speaks volumes; we all know that no matter what our beef, we will find a sympathetic ear and a kind word or two (or fifty in my case, never one for brevity, me ;)) I cannot imagine a better bunch of online friendly faces :)

Notice how I waffle just so you might not notice my purchase?! :p

IN #51: Rituals Himalaya Wisdom Salt Scrub 265g; This is the old formula and I prefer it to the new one. They're heavily discounted to clear the stock so I feel vindicated. I'm not sure all of you would agree that £9.60 for a body scrub is a bargain though :D
