I'm veggie but I would have thought it would be at least 6 hrs on low or about 3 to 4 on high from meat slow cooker recipes I have seen

Bring a deck chair, babafette, that way you're not *technically* on the naughty step but the company's more than welcome! Cheers :)

kadison, personally I would bump it onto high for an hour or two, then turn it down to tenderise for a while before you intend to serve. But then I fret a lot about poultry :o

Just had a quick look up, consensus seems to be 3/4 hours on high 6 or so on low. HTH

Yes, the slow cooker manual says that too, 5-7 hours on medium basically, but that's for whole fillets, it says smaller chunks cook more quickly hence me thinking 4-5 hours on low.....I'll see how it goes, if it's still looking a bit pathetic at 8pm I'll pop it on medium, either way we can pop to the chippy or something if I get it wrong  :rotfl:

from my meat eating days all i remember is having to brown it off in pan to seal it and warm it up before adding to the slow cooker, sorry thats not really much help. hope the meal and the rest of the evening goes well and you dont have to resort to the chippy.

Gimme some of that Pimms, STAT! DSD has come back in yet another effing filthy mood and is parading around in a swimsuit which she has just bought and it's OBSCENE, she is 15 years old (same age as my DD), there is no way I would allow my daughter to wear such an item, everything is hanging out. DH's face was a picture, but said it was fine as he doesn't want to incur more of her wrath, excuse me but the reason she is so difficult is because she has been pandered and kowtowed to all her life. I love my husband dearly but he needs to grow a pair and put his foot down. We are going to fall out about it, I'm not listening to him complaining about her behaviour any more until he stands up to her.

Sorry for the completely OT rant but I am so angry with him, I'm close to tears :(

does she have another parent who she plays him off against? if so that why she does it. she needs rules and continuity. its a teens place to test the boundaries by pushing against them to see what they can get away with, and its a parents job to set those boundaries. if your DH doesnt do it youll just come across as the wicked step mother and it will cause friction between you 2 as a couple, he needs to understand that HIS daughter needs him to enforce rules and tell her what is acceptable otherwise she will just keep pushing and pushing if the boundaries arent there to stop her.

sorry i hope that doesnt come across as a criticisim of you or your parenting. i know where you are coming from and that you want both girls treated equally so they both know what is acceptable for them both.

Thankyou Mrs-MP, I don't feel criticised :) and I appreciate your advice. I am hard on my children, always have been and although they're not perfect (see previous posts about DD and the house party :p) they know that I say what I mean and if they break my rules they will be punished. I appreciate that everyone parents differently, and I'm not trying to say that my way is right and DH's way is wrong, I'm just getting increasingly frustrated with him moaning and b!tching about her mood swings and attitude but he will not and does not stand up to her. You reap what you sow after all and if he's not willing to make a stand he loses the right to complain about it, IMHO. I bit my tongue very hard last weekend but here we are again! She definitely plays both parents off against each other (we get at least a phone call a month saying she wants to come and live with us, whenever her Mum says no, which of course leads to her mum backing down and DSD getting her own way) but DH is of the opinion that's there's no point in being the "bad cop" if her mum is going to give in. Whereas I think that makes for even MORE reason to be firm.

Anyway! I'm going to have a big shower, scrub myself silly, might as well take all this pent up anger and put it to good exfoliating use :) xx

i usually bake bread from scratch at times like those, it gets a really good pummeling!!

enjoy your exfoliating session but dont scrub too hard you only want to remove dead skin not the whole dermis.

night Fizz hope you have a good weekend.

    night all

feel like i should add night john boy on the end of that LOL

The online shopping indiscretions from earlier in the month finally caught up with me and so now have 8 INS to declare - that's just Shampoo and Conditioner which were needed and a little Caudalie Beauty Elixir spray I bought in order to bag the freebie five piece Gatineau Discovery Set.

I've been reading along but just too bagged to post.

    UU:

    39. Ponds cleansing and make up removing towelettes 30 count. Meh. Did the job, not the best I've ever used. There is light at the end of the wipes tunnel. I may have to buy some before the end of the year.

    40. Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal facial scrub. 30 ml. It came out of the tube black and wasn't that great. Glad it was just a sample from some beauty bag/box. WNBA

41.Perricone MD Acyl-glutathione cream 7.5m. Nice but not sure what it's supposed to have done. I think I liked it but this line is expensive, so, when the lake of tubs finally run dry, I think I'm going there to invest.

42,3,4, 5 Were sample pouches of 100% Pure organic body lotions. Smelled wonderful when first on and then turned musty and mouldy on me, so used one, up had to wash and then tried a second with the same result, so the last two were tossed. Because how many times in one evening can a woman wash her arms.

46/47 to samples of unremarkable face cream that did the job but didn't thrill me to make note of.

Oh, and if you are ever in Alberta, you really do need to go to Drumheller and see the Dinosaur Museum.

Night all, I'm going to bed.
