Week off this week, then back for a week before I start the new job.

    Been car hunting, very depressing.

Fish tank listed on gumtree, need to add a few other bits as well.

Need a new mobile, but waiting until after next credit card statement, I tend to buy a mobile then go sim only as it works out better but means I need the money up-front to pay for it.

To do this week includes a freezer inventory, meal planning and batch cooking. Want to be organised for when I start new job.

Lunch today will be pulled pork from freezer with homemade rolls, dough has just finished so need to get oven on. Might make some flapjacks at the same time.

Out for dinner tonight as it is our anniversary, 8 years ago today we met up again when both of us were in our local purely by accident as we both had other plans which got cancelled at the last minute - karma at work!

We're going to the local tapas bar, OH wasn't keen until I read the menu out, highlighting all the meat dishes and the fact they sell Malbec!
  • enjoy your week off kate :]

Car hunting is fun for a bit but gets really old fast
i hope your not spending to much on one MSE style hehe

    Thanks Lucky.

The problem is we up-sell ourselves every time so we start off with a budget of £2,00 and end up looking at cars for £4,500 then we don't like anything that's in the original budget as it's not as good as the cars for twice as much!

It's the same with any purchase - whatever your personal budget is, the one you really want is just out of reach

Good luck with the car hunting - there's a car out there, just waiting for you!

We're actually looking for 2 cars, one to replace our "hack" and the other to replace my girl racer car which is fun but not economical in the slightest.

I managed to talk myself into looking at a brand new (admittedly very economical whilst still being fun) car which would cost at least £15K more than the trade-in on my car before I came to my senses!

Ah, we'll find something and we don't have to make the decision today so there's no rush.
  • Cars are my week point in life when it comes to money

In my eyes a car for me is worth losing 1-2k a year on because of the fun/experience it gives me id spend a lot more going out drinking every weekend
Some cars you can buy for 15-20k and lose very little on in terms of value over a 2-3 year term

My friend has a boxster 2003 plate bought it for 20k worth about 8 in todays market but hell never sell it he loves it and its priceless to him thats what its all about just getting something you enjoy which is fun

    good luck :]

Oof, last night was not MSE. Tapas bar was full so we went elsewhere for dinner and had a lovely meal with some amazing wine then got a taxi home instead of the bus. Still, it's only our anniversary once a year.

Sat here with a cat snuggled up on my lap, purring loudly. Can hear the ducks and chickens demanding to be let out and my leg is going to sleep but I can't quite get up yet.

Had a text about the fish tank so need to reply to that at a more sociable time.

In laws over for lunch today, doing shepherds pie with leftover roast lamb from freezer and ys cheese and onion quiche for veggie BIL.

Ah, cat has got down now my leg is coming back to life - pins and needles!

Got carpet fitter coming round this afternoon to give us a quote - this is the second one then we will get it booked. I can do carpet in a room but I'm not touching the stairs or the landing as there are several joins required so beyond my skills.

Have applied for money transfer cards and have stoozed the money, spreadsheet set up to track the payments and balance. As I make minimum repayments I will move that money to renovation fund account so stooze account is always accurate.

So far with this and our offset savings, we have reduced our interest by almost £4 a day, happy days!

Two people interested in fish tank, second one wants to collect tomorrow if first one doesn't buy it - yay!
  • Hope you see the back of the fish tank.

I can already see the back of the tank, cos it's see through :p

No response so not sure if it is going today - poo.

Got carpet fitter booked to do stairs and landing next Thursday, not cheap but it needs several joins so beyond my limited skills. can't wait to have lovely new carpet instead of bare floorboards :j:j

OH has ended up working 2.5 days this week so not much of a holiday so far.

Our builder chap is back tomorrow so going to get him to quote for some more work when he's here.

Quite cold here, off for a cuppa to warm up :)
