  • Hi Kate.
    I recommend a woodwarm fireview.
Their mulltifuel burners are Very efficient, have an airwash system that works, and they look good.
They are also controllable - turn it down at bedtime, shove a bit of paper on in the morning and its going again.

Thanks SHS, will have a look at them. Love the idea of it being controllable. What size do you have?

    What does airwashed mean?

The gap should be big enough for the 6KW one.
  • Airwash is a way of venting air over the inside of the screen so it stays clean - a sort of self cleaning system.

No point in it if you can't see the flames.

We put a 5kw one in our old house. When we came here we fitted prettier Franco Belge enamelled ones.
They look nice but just don't work so well.

I wouldn't pay TOO much attention to professionals saying don't get too high a rating.
  • ...Because I have never thought *I wish this woodburner gave out less heat*.

    Have you a lined chimney?

    Thanks SHS, really useful.

I can't imagine the cats saying that either!

No, chimney is not lined so will need to do that as well.
  • The lining will cost as much as the woodburner. You *might* need scaffolding too.

Ugh, scaffolding an issue due to mid level veranda roof thing. Will need to investigate, thanks for the tip.

£1.66 OPd from TCB. Y0ugov at £6.50. May be a while for payout.

Car accident today, hit from behind. Other party insured and already advised insurers so don't anticipate issue. Was car we were giving to my parents as replaced with new car and little resale/trade-in value but reliable car and had done lot to it, new tyres, exhaust, brakes etc.

Likely to be written off but may be able to buy back.

Not a major issue but is hassle and will put my insurance up. Grrr.

Thankfully all okay and that's all that matters really.
  • Thank God you are ok.

Can't say same for other person's front bumper which is now sporting big hole - that's what happens when you use my tow bar as a brake!
