It may come to that :D

Feeling a bit fed up. New job has turned out to be a bit carp and my closest colleague (the only one who has taken any time to show me the ropes) has told me today she has found another job. 2 months in and I want to look for another job but aware that wouldn't look good on CV so need to suck it up and battle on for a year at least.

Ah well, I've got the house to myself tomorrow day, Christmas do tomorrow night (am driving so cheap night) and then my folks coming up for the day on Sunday so I've got a lovely weekend to look forward to.

Then on Tuesday, we are adopting two new (Spanish) pusscats who have had a really tough start in life. Not very MSE but it feels good to give them a chance to have a better life. And they are both beautiful and apparently very affectionate.

So the gist is stop whinging and be thankful for cats :D

I once interviewed someone who had only been in his current job two months. I asked why and he said 'I think everyone is entitled to one mistake on their CV. This is mine'. It impressed me, we took him on and he's still there around 10 years later. Don't be afraid to have a go - what's the worst that can happen?

:T:j:T. Whereabouts in Spain are they coming from? Are they neighbours of mine :D ?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Ooh good advice, I like that!

Cats are coming from Alhaurin el Grande which I think is Costa del Sol so they have a looonng journey ahead. But a lovely new home at the end of it.
  • I do a lot of interviewing and this wouldn't be an issue as long as you explained it and I like the poster above tale of being allowed one mistake. I've had three and left three jobs, one after two days, one after a week and one after 5 weeks as they were just naff, weren't inducting me properly.. I'm down the line of I'm an asset to your organisation and if you can't be bothered to invest in me, then I'm outta here. Don't stay somewhere and be unhappy.. life is too short!

  • I like the advice.
If you move for promotion no one cares how long you were in your job.

Maybe it will buck up, Kate, hope so.

This! 2 months in and my boss has never once asked how I am getting on and if I need any training, advice or guidance.

I have a 3-month notice period though so not going anywhere very quickly. Plus my skills are only applicable to the public sector and I would like to stay in the area I currently work in as I have been dealing with this industry for 15 years so it will take time to get the right role.

In the meantime, I will get my CV and LinkedIn ready and carry on with my qualification.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement!

Next time I will listen to my instincts (had concerns about both my boss and her boss but the role sounded so good I ignored them!)

On MFW news, £2 giffgaff cashback OPd taking me up to £11.84 this month - really is just chipping away but it does make a difference in the end :)

We're about £3k ahead of where we would have been by now - that's 1% of our mortgage paid off by stoozing and paying off free money.

I worked out that every £100 I OP saves £280 in interest over the life due to our interest rate and term - seems a bit high but it's very motivating so not going to correct myself :D

£60-odd Ocado shop done this week - should keep us going as we have plenty in the larder and freezer.

Agreed with OH we are having Calzone for Christmas dinner so only need a few bits for that plus booze so hopefully not too expensive this month for food.

Need to buy duck food today - that will be about £70 but is factored into planned spending.

Love how you spend more on your ducks than yourselves,
    Calzone sounds excellent idea.

Story for you to tell my nephew.

I've been painting the new chicken house with orange creosote and now have an orange face where I've spattered myself - J keeps singing the oompah loompah song at me!
  • You will feel better for having made the decision, plus new year is always a good time to start looking for jobs! Good luck!
