Mother of the Bride outfit

At least she didn't wear what my cousin wore to a relative's wedding. She turned up in a mini skirt and tight low-cut top, hair messed up and it was evident that it was the outfit she'd worn out clubbing the night before. She hadn't even been home in between...0

How nasty! Why does it matter to you or anyone else what someone wore to an event. If the MOB liked it and felt happy in it then good for her. It was her daughter's wedding, probably as momentous an event in her life as it is in her daughter's. OP - you should read this article by Sarah Millican and reflect.
As for the scoring, if a civil servant told me that's how they behaved I would have been minded to put in a formal complaint. It's a wedding !!!!!! - a happy occasion, not a b!tchfest.
PS Purple and green - suffragette colours - go together beautifully!0 -
It was a beautiful wedding, in a gorgeous setting and I know it cost a huge amount of money.
With this in mind, I think her outfit sounds very appropriate and I'm sure the daughter thought her Mum looked gorgeous.
As others have said, those registrars acted highly inappropriately and should be reported. Fancy if they score low on some poor lady who's saved up for a fancy outfit and thinks she looks good and is feeling good about herself and confident....they could send her world and her confidence crashing down....disgusting behaviour.
ETA: That Saran Millican article makes interesting reading. You always imagine her to be full of confidence, a person who doesn't care what others think of her.0 -
I think purple and fake fur stole sounds wonderful, I'd wear it myself!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -

As you say disgusting behaviour by the Registrars,Slimming World at target0 -
Where I'm from, mothers and even guests frequently wear evening attire for full day weddings. In fact, its not uncommon to see guests wear ex bridesmaid outfits if they're not too fancy, and too "bridesmaid-y". My MIL wore pink to our wedding, the theme was "autumn colours". I didnt feel that she was trying to steal any of our thunder.
As for the registrar, what a completely unprofessional thing to say!0 -
Our theme was "wear what you feel comfortable in."
It was a very relaxed day.0 -
this may not be question you expect............but what would YOU think appropriate as the 'Mother of the Bride' to wear?
I have just been loaned the Brides wedding photo album, of a wedding I attended last year.
the Mother of the Bride (henceforth known as MOB) wore for the ceremony and photos a full length evening gown in purple, with a fake fur stole). I thought at the time it wasn't really 'the right thing to wear'.
the colour wasn't one of the 'colour themes' of the wedding. obviously an evening gown (she told me it would be nice to wear for dinner when she went on a 'cruise'), and to me it just looked 'naff'!
it may sound as if I am bragging, but the registrar and her colleague both came up to me after the ceremony and told me that they scored the guests outfits, and thought I had the 'best' wedding outfit (nothing special, just a nice dress and jacket from Roman Originals. but they made a point of saying they include MOBs and MOGs in their scores!).
The MOB wore the identical dress, as she did in the day, though in a different colour for the evening 'do'.
It was a beautiful wedding, in a gorgeous setting and I know it cost a huge amount of money.
I just thought the MOB looked as if she was trying to 'upstage' the Bride.0 -
So the registrar and colleague came up to you a total stranger to tell you they had scored peoples outfit and you seemed to agree. You could have been anyone, I find that hard to believe.
And now after a year looking at the pics you choose to share/gloat over it.
I don't get it, believe it. Seems to me you are sneering at people.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
OP perhaps you would care to share the pictures so we can all judge your outfit!:D:D:D
