It wouldn't occur to me to voice an opinion on what anybody else wore to our wedding.

I've never been to a wedding where the Mob or MOG wore a long dress but when I was looking online for my outfit a few years ago, I looked at some USA sites where there were loads of evening type dresses for Mob etc. Some UK wedding outfit designers also have long dresses for mob . I suppose it depends what the person wearing it likes. Wasn't for me but some of the outfits looked stylish . I'm 61 and I don't feel and hope I don't look old !

There are plenty of older (and not so old) women who would prefer a long dress to cover their legs because of medical conditions/unusual appearance. Scars, lymphoedema, ulcers, psoriasis etc. Its not traditional over here for MOB outfits but I'm sure plenty are grateful for the option when they're going to be in treasured photos of the day.

meri has someone hacked your account?

I have never disagreed with anything you've put before - in fact, I look for your name because often you offer something I wouldn't have seen and I find myself nodding and then not putting what I was thinking.

this doesn't sound like one of your posts at all. I'm a bit flummoxed really.

I may wear purple to my daughters wedding, or leopard print, or jeans. I don't know.

But I will wear something with their blessing and knowledge and it's their day.

my daughter came to my wedding in jeans and a t shirt during her lunch from college and then went back to lectures - but it never occurred to me to mind that she wasn't in a dress...

The day wasn't about outfits - mine came of ebay - it was about OH and myself taking the vows. And still is. And sharing that with our kids.

still, next wedding I go to I shall assume its ok to wear my usual black leggings, Top and Biker boots.

Can't look much worse than the cheap and tacky dresses I saw when I looked on the site you bought your outfit from. Personally I wear better quality clothing to do the supermarket shop.

Not nice having your personal taste criticised is it?

I wasn't going to post again, as some posters were very offensive. But it wasn't a 'come as you are' wedding. it was a very posh 'do' with a dress code. I have been to weddings where nobody cared much about what you were wearing. but, not this one. it was planned down to the point that the MOB asked ME what I was wearing! (cos she knows I hate 'dressing up'). but that isn't the point. the point is that at the time I thought her outfit inappropriate...........did I mention she wore a 'tiara' too?
In the photos she just looks 'naff'. that's my opinion. I know she 'organised' the wedding, I think she wanted attention on her - not the bride and she got it.
that so many of you think that dress codes should be ignored, that you should turn up wearing any old tatt, and the bride should be grateful you came..............words fail me.

But why have you felt the need to post about it? It makes you sound worse than wearing the 'wrong' outfit ever would. Suppose the bride reads it - how do you think she would feel?

    1. You should have trusted your instinct and not posted again if you had nothing nice to say
    2. No you didn't!
    3. But she wasn't wearing tat she was wearing an evening gown and a fake fur stole according to you (does the fact it was fake make it tatt?)

  • My MIL wore a long brocade style gown with a matching pashmina to our wedding. She looked amazing and was much more dressed up than my own Mum (who still looked incredibly smart BTW but didn't have the time or energy for extensive shopping).

MIL was recovering from breast cancer and various interventions she'd had as a result, whilst my Mum was caring for my terminally ill Father who wasn't well enough to attend my wedding, never mind walk his only daughter down the aisle.

Both of them could have worn a bin bag for all I care, both me and DH were just so happy that they were able to be there at all.

If any guest at my wedding had dared to voice an opinion about either Mum's outfit I'm afraid they would have been told to leave immediately.

    Just unspeakably rude IMO.

And words fail me that you would attend a 'posh' wedding in a cheap polyester outfit. Didn't you read the dress code?

after reading that, words fail me too....

Wow! I'm with Seanymph on this one....are you sure someone hasn't hacked your account?

Where is this 'dress code' that you speak of? IMO, people can wear what on earth they want to a wedding, and after reading CrusingSaver's post, that rings even more true.
