lol, ok, I am oldfashioned but, I am OLD! 60 in a couple of weeks. I was brought up to respect dress codes and etiquette. as the dress code was Men - Suits and Ties, Ladies - Smart Day wear, I wouldn't have thought the MOB would look like she was attending a film premiere.
still, next wedding I go to I shall assume its ok to wear my usual black leggings, Top and Biker boots.

Who told you 60 is old? Being old-fashioned has very little to do with age anyway. My grandparents have 20+ years on you but would never be so gossipy or unkind.
  • My aunt (my mum's sister) turned up for my wedding wearing a very short leopard print mini skirt and low cut top. I know she caused a few raised eyebrows amongst other guests but I just giggled as it was so like her to wear that. I was delighted she made it no matter what she was wearing and would never have dreamed of judging anyone based on what they wore.

I've never been to a wedding where the Mob or MOG wore a long dress but when I was looking online for my outfit a few years ago, I looked at some USA sites where there were loads of evening type dresses for Mob etc. Some UK wedding outfit designers also have long dresses for mob . I suppose it depends what the person wearing it likes. Wasn't for me but some of the outfits looked stylish . I'm 61 and I don't feel and hope I don't look old !

If you're lucky, it will be the same registrar and assistant, and they will let you - and all the other guests - know how your outfit scores.

No reason why you shouldn't if that's what you like wearing....although I don't think the registrar would score you very highly! :p

As for looking like she was at a film premiere, good for her! I'm sure she felt like a movie star! Which, as it was her daughters wedding, she was perfectly entitled to do.

I thought after all the replies you've received to this thread you would come back and say something like "ok guys, I hold my hands up, maybe I was abit judgemental?", or something along those lines. But no, you've came back and sound even more judgemental and superior than before!
