But laxatives can cause terrible stomach cramping. Really painful. I have to take them regularly due to the after effects of radiotherapy and I've been in agony at times after using them.
And certain kinds of laxatives can cause serious harm to people suffering from common health complaints which you may not know about, such as diabetes, kidney problems, crohns and even pregnancy0 -

It isn't on someone continually stealing your food, but it also isn't on putting stuff like that in your food either.
Please show me where I said I was going to put laxitives in my food. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
ok, so as it seems a lot on here are too nice to give a thief an hour on the toilet, have you spoken to your boss about this OP? what have they said?
They said the person is out of order but theirs nothing they can do until the thief is exposed. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

Just get some freezable cooling pads and keep your lunch in your drawer."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Going to the loo is not causing harm, it's actually a very human function, although it would seem a few people here are like The Queen and don't even fart.
It is a human function yes, but the person might already have existing bowel or stomach problems and laxatives would do them the world of good I'm sure....:cool:0 -

I didn't say that you did say that. My original post was actually in reply to those who thought it would be a good idea. You actually took umbrage at that and got all defensive with a "why would I get into trouble?" attitude.0 -
And if you deliberately put contaminated food into a communal area, you take the risk that a completely innocent person might accidentally eat it - someone takes it out, leaves it in the kitchen, someone makes a mistake and takes a bite - it might be slightly unlikely but it's not impossible.
Also bear in mind that many people in your office might be on medication - birth control, heart medication, insulin for diabetes - if they unknowingly take laxatives that might potentially have a much more serious effect than an hour on the toilet. Would you want to take that risk?0 -
Get a length of chain from your local hardware store, long enough to go round your lunch box, cross over the top and round the other way (like a parcel tied with string), and a small padlock. Bit of a faff for you, but the thief would soon get the message.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
