One of my neighbours often parks in front of my. drive
It is known I never use my drive to get into my parking space as the slope is too steep in my front garden. So I usually park on the road in fron.t. of my house . When I just moved in I used to park on the road in front of my drive. but realised that everybody else was parking in front of not dropped kerb. so that space in.front of the drive was left free or used by another car in the household /visitors etc. As I live alone I have only one car and don't need 2 parking spaces so my neighbour if he sees my car parked alongside the raised curb in.fro.t of my house taken to parking in such a way that he obstructs my drive by about a meter or two. Our children play together , we had drinks at each others sometimes , he installed my.kitchen sink and built up my daughter's bed - if it was not for that I would have.promptly placed a note on his windscreen . I don't need parking space that he occupies on.most occasions so I feel mean in.resenting him doing it. I still feel he takes a p..s with it though and it gets to me !
What would your advice be in dealing with it ?
Apologiesor typos , my phone absolutely refuses to delete dots it places liberally .everywhere !

The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

            it wouldn't bother me.
your car is parked where you want it parked, you don't need access by car to your drive, so what does it matter whether someone else, who knows you don't use your drive, parks in front of it?0 -
Erm. Really struggling to make sense of this but are you saying you don't want/need to park there, but you don't want him to park there either?0
 -
Have you approached him about it directly ? As you are on such good terms then i can't see it being a huge issue.
Worthwhire remebering though that no one has right a park outside their own house. As a wheelchair user, people parking in front of dropped kerbs is a flipping nusance and pig ignorant !Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -
If you dont like him parking there, why dont you just park there instead and let him park where you park?0

He may be parking in front of the drive but he is not obstructing it unless you are actually parked in the drive and can't get out because of the way he is parked (not deemed to be causing an obstruction if you can't get the car in as you are still free to go about any business). Yes it may be inconsiderate but really he isn't doing anything wrong, as long as he is displaying a valid road tax anyway. No longer ...tobe! A bit hard to understand, but I think I get the gist of it.
So you don't park in front of your drive, you park on the raised kerb section next to it, leaving your drive clear 'just in case'?
Your neighbour is parking partly over your drive that you are not parked in?
You want to be able to take up a parking place on your street and for your drive to be left clear, 'just in case'?
Why don't you just park across your drive, then your neighbour won't be able to and you won't be taking up a parking space on the street?
I can imagine your neighbour posting the following: 'My neighbour has a perfectly good drive she won't park on or in front of, so she's taking up space on the road where I usually park. Now she's moaning at me because the only place I can park is slightly in front of the drive she isn't using.'
Advice to you, get over yourself.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
why can you not park over your own drive?
Yet you are mad at a person " Our children play together , we had drinks at each others sometimes , he installed my.kitchen sink and built up my daughter's bed "
"I still feel he takes a p..s "....nope you are taking the p..s and being very selfish in the process.
Good luck with the outcome, but if it gets out to other neighbours, your not going to be mrs popular.0 -
Because every single household on the road parks in front of the kerb first leaving the drive . Some specially inconsiderate park in rhe very middle of raised kerb section so that there is no place for anybody else. I never seen anybody parked in front of someone else's drive on that road. I never would have dreamt of leaving my car even half a meter into someone else's drive there. Once during school run I have left my car in front of someone 's drive (not blocking as drive was double and cars could get past me if needed to access the drive) for 10 minutes (!!) I got a message not to do it on my windscreen.
Does it make better sense now ?The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.

So you are angry with someone you are friendly with for something you did to a stranger yourself?
You can either:
- continue to fume over it and affect your relationship with that person when they will pick up bad vibes but don't know why.
- say to him that although you don't use your drive, you would prefer if he didn't park in front in a pleasant tone.
- you realise that you are getting something get to you that really doesn't matter at all and that good relationship with neighbours, especially when they have helped you in the past is more important.0
